Firstly, we don't know what percentage of Graham and N'Diaye's wages Hull and Eskisehirspor are paying. Secondly, Meyler, Campbell, McFadden and Saha left the club 7 months ago.

That leaves Mangane, Kilgallon and Bramble, as Elmohamady was at Hull for most of last season (and again we don't know what percentage of his wages were being paid by Hull).

There is no way of knowing if our wages are up or down from last season, either way with so much dead wood still at the club, the club are right to prioritise the 3 most important positions.

Carrying on this 'pretending to be a Sunderland fan nonsense' for so long is not normal. You should go for a mental health check-up.

i think he's just concerned that another team might pick him up.

Guess it's a risk we have to take for us to fill those priority positions. Wouldn't want to bring him in and then be unable to fill one of the fullback positions or central midfield because we couldn't shift another body through the door.

If he signs he will be on safc.com, all the rest is a worry over nothing.

you're right, its not a priority position. full backs are more important, but if he's as good as people are saying, i hope we can shift some more players quickly before we lose out on better quality.

Are we likely to get those positions filled anyway? All I've seen is the on-going Peruzzi saga (do we even know we haven't given up on that one completely?, it sounded like Di Canio thinks we have) and Fernandez which looks like a wage bump ploy on his part.

I have a horrible feeling about the way we're approaching these key transfers......letting outgoings dictate your in-comings can be a dangerous game when no one wants the shite you've got. I'm preparing myself for watching the Orc in red and white again.

ok, so in the interest of debate - because I still don't actually care - I will analogise this for you:

John earns $x a week.
John spends more than $x a week and has been using his credit card to cover the shortfall, but pays off as much as he can to minimise credit payments, however after some time of living like this he has a debt of $y, and pays credit fees each month.

John gets a christmas bonus, learns of a promotion, and starts seeing a financial advisor all at the same time. (Lucky John!) John realises that he can pay his debts off completely with the bonus and can then use his credit card to buy all of his christmas presents, meaning that he has no credit fees to pay this month, but of course he still has money on the card. His advisor explains that with his new pay rise he can just about break even, but if he stops smoking and gambling, he can actually start to put some money away. ;-) Within a short time John cuts up his credit card and saves for his holiday to Malaga. He tries to buy a ticket online, but realises he can't without a credit card so he is forced to go down to the nearest Flight Center where he is ripped off. John spends a week in Malaga where he takes some bad drugs and ends up in hospital. Unfortunately the dodgy travel insurance policy he purchased didn't cover self-induced problems (read that smallprint) and he returned home in bigger debt than he'd ever imagined. He lost his job and ended up in a bed-sit with only his computer and a deep distrust for anything red and white. He spent the next few miserable months visiting football forums constantly warning people that "there's no money" before they finally institutionalised him.

Why is that every time, just as John seems to be turning his life around, he ends up back in deep shit?

Hopefully someone like McClean, Vaughan, Cattermole or Cuellar leave soon so we can get him in, as Moberg Karlsson and Mavrias as back up to Johnson and Giaccherini looks quite exciting.

Definitely still after Peruzzi, might be something happening with that later today in fact. Not sure what's happening with Fernandes but you can tell by Di Canio's recent comments that we need those 3 positions filling asap.

Like I said earlier, I don't think those 3 positions are linked to any outgoing, it's just extra ones, like Mavrias, being reliant on players leaving.

No one is going to offer them the wages we gave them, so I am afraid we are stuck with them until their contracts run down or we pay them off....There's only Vaughan I can see leaving for the sake of his career, maybe McClean if he gets a good offer.

That would be great news..

That sounds a little more encouraging then, hopefully they've got it sussed and it's ust a waiting game.

I was looking forward to seeing Mavrias, if they're confident of shifting one of the deadwood then maybe they've let him know to hold on.

We were in daily contact with Mavrias and assuring him the move would go through but when we asked Panathinaikos for another delay they turned us down. They still intend to sell though, so I'm sure we'll go back in if he's still available by the time some knacker goes through the exit door.
