We were in daily contact with Mavrias and assuring him the move would go through but when we asked Panathinaikos for another delay they turned us down. They still intend to sell though, so I'm sure we'll go back in if he's still available by the time some knacker goes through the exit door.

So they'd basically been allowing us to delay the transfer with first option on him then lost patience and he is back on the market?....

Hopefully if and when we go back in for him they are willing to deal with us and for the same fee.

personally they should tell us where to go

 aye, must have as that thread is still on about if he is or isn't signing!
you obviously havnt heard the news

hope not but wouldn't blame them, it's not their concern that we have a lot of garbage sucking up huge wages.....must be hindering their plans a bit too. My opinion is, if he's that good, get him in and force one of them out by any means necessary.

do you really believe we have major target(s) , cant see it happening the coming season

I do, yes. I wouldn't expect to see anyone of note signed before mid August either. The bigger boys will always wait to see what they have on offer before committing themselves.

If those figures are true this isn't about money. Unless of course one of our major targets is working out a lot more expensive than first envisaged.

I can believe that wages are still an issue. We've added a fair amount and are still waiting for Bardsley to leave despite promising to practically give him away. We're probably over where we need to be even now due to lack of outgoings. I'd have loved to see the lad come in but my worry now is that we may have to sacrifice someone if we get close to deadline day and haven't shed some dead weight - particularly if we make the fullback and midfield signings we so desperately need.

i hope you are right , imo the current squad will struggle

As I blathered on about for the best part of last season our squad were poorly managed and weren't even close to being fit yet we managed to stay up. Had we kicked off the season with pretty much the same squad I'd expect our fitness, coaching and attitude to land us half a dozen more points. I'm not worried.

What do you reckon we'd be adding to the wage bill buying this lad? He's only a promising bairn, it will be fuck all in the scheme of things. Not wages for me either.

I don't know how the sanctions work if you're over. However, I could imagine that we'd fancy our chances of arguing that we had to go over budget to add a pair of fullbacks. Much more difficult to argue the point over a fifth winger. It's the only way it makes sense to me unless we are being incredibly restrained and prudent.

Or we could be about to bladder a load on some other exciting young talent8-)
