I still think that should be the plan for now, don't think bairstows upto it, open with Compton and bat root 5 or 6
I have doubts about Bairstow long term but much better to give him a shot at 6 and have Root in a position which he could well occupy for a decade to come. Compton has already shown he's not up to the task, it would be a waste of a position to include him in the team.

Bloody Joe Root. Miss out in three innings and just as the voices are getting louder you go and get yourself a very nice 50.

Ruining everything.

Eh?

Great in the first innings, epecially from a man who has not been allowed to play any cricket for most of the season. He's also probably the best fielder in the side.

Ok, am somewhat biased. 8-)

Forget the bed wetters mate. We are doing well. A lead of 400 will do it imo. But plenty of plenty of time to try and bat out and make 500+.

The World record for any 4th innings run chase is only 418 .....we already passed the record of chasing 344 at Lords

I'm going for a declaration with a lead of 430

Why? I'll be honest I'm a cricket novice, but I'd fancy a late evening declaration, maybe 8/10 overs at them tonight and 2 full days to bowl the useless fuckers out.

The highest score in 4th innings at Lords in a test is 406 By Australia in the last Ashes and this pitch is spinning more then that one did.

I'd be happy enough with that. But I still wouldn't object to seeing us bat until mid morning tomorrow. Give them no chance at all of winning and give us 5 sessions to bowl them out. A declaration tonight runs the risk of giving them a bit of a boost if we don't knock one or two over before stumps.

Whenever we do decide to declare, I would be disappointed if we haven't set them 600 to win. This is a great opportunity to grind them right into the dirt with an absolute thrashing.

WTF do they say in that song for the adverts? Oooooo, We are full of _______. Sound like a merge of London and Wonder. Lunder. Irritating me already.

Question for you all and one I should almost certainly know the answer to but if a batsmen plays a shot, it clips, say, the bowlers foot and hits the stumps at the non strikers end whilst the non striker is out his crease then is it a run out? I know it's not if it's straight from bat to stumps with no contact with a fielder.
