I can see the arguement for that also, but in a short space of time he proved capable and I don't think you should hold back class like him just out of caution due to his age.

it's the short space of time that worries me mate
its a lot to open at such a young age, against the best bowlers in the world (instead of county cricket) with a new ball doing all sorts, i think atm if he comes in with the ball 50 overs old, he can do a hell of a lot more damage, he hasn't looked his most comfortable atm opening
just look at today, it's batsmens paradise, and we have still struggled

I can't argue with you but it's early days for him in that spot for England, plus when you think of all the added pressure of an Ashes series, and the opening spot being the main talking point before the series, I am not surprised he hasn't looked on top form just yet, confident he will rack up a big score before the series is out though.

Her madge has had enough already and fucked off

Knee jerking monarch

he will have a good knock mate, as we both agree, he is a VERY VERY good player, and will have a very long career with england
just thought we should have eased him in, and not just threw him into the spotlight in THIS series, up to now, when he has played, compton has been opening
then the ashes come along, and there you go kid........... :-o

Two tosses won, two correct decisions.

Again its a good batting conditions but the Aussies have bowled very weel with the new ball. Still very early so lets not go OTT like people did in the first test eh?

This is like pure football this place

correct. Embarrassing.

and rightly so farcical batting on a brilliant batting pitch

The openers missing 2 straight ones and kp doing god knows what that was.

Would you be saying that if it was England bowling? Doubt it.

cook and root f***ing useless

Aye, blue skies in 30 degree temperatures. Why would anyone in their right mind choose to bat first?

Of course the ball is going to move around, it's England ffs, I'd be amazed if the ball did nothing.

Was a no brainer.

It's not the end of the world, the match or even the session that 3 are already out, but it's still pretty poor for a team who are meant to be as good as everyone says they are is the point. Given how much better we are than the Aussies, as everyone was saying before the series, it's a rubbish start. And the gulf between us and SA is enormous.

Australia's attack is alot better then most people are giving them credit for. Cook is out of nick. Root is opening in internationals for the 1st time and KP is coming back from injury.

First session the bowlers are always in it.

It isnt. They are better but the gulf isn't 'enormous'.

'harris bowls wicket to wicket and makes the batsman play'
