By all accounts he has been a very positive influence at the county.

I think the fact that he's played regularly and done well so far this season seems to point to something missing in the man management and coaching setup at Durham.

I agree, from reading his Twitter feed he seems to be out with Brooks and some of his other team mates often enough to suggest there was more to his problems at DCCC than just being fond of nightlife.

There might be something in that. The Moxon/Gillespie combination is working really well.

A few people jumping to conclusions here. Plunkett has done nothing at Yorkshire yet - hasn't shown the sort of form yet to suggest he isn't exactly the same player with the same problems he had at Durham.

This. What are his averages this season? They were dire in his last 2 years here. With the bat especially he went from being a potential number 6 to a complete rabbit.

Plunkett currently has a better LVCC bowling average than Wood, Stokes and Rushworth and has a batting ave of just over 21.

He's got 14 championship wickets this season and we're almost halfway through the season which is not a particulary noteable achievment.
For a variety of obvious reasons, and maybe some we're not aware of, it was clear he needed to start anew-he's been given a fresh start-it would be inappropriae to say he's drinking in the last chance saloon-but it would be premature to say he's turned his form around.

Plunkett has done OK averaging 25 with the ball - point is he has only played 4 games for his new club wasnt deemed good enough for selection in others and people are going on like hes a reformed character, hugely improved player and it was all Durham's fault.

I would say its premature bollocks.

Harsh. He only came back from a 3 week injury on Sunday.

something strange in the air this season, Stoneman is turning into a run machine and Rents has jumped off the fence kicking and screaming ;-)

Bit early to tell with Plunkett, talent is there but its the desire to do it week in week out

I'm just amazed mate. Hes got the potential to be excellent and early signs are encouraging but the grand statements being made about his treatment at Durham and also how is now 'proving' people wrong is a load of crap. He has had two good championship games for Yorkshire - nothing more, nothing less. It could be a flash in the pan or it could be the start of something better.

Plunkett? Injured? Shirley Knott! ;-)

Durham's man management of some of their contracted players over the last few seasons appears at best to be poor. Blackwell, Davies, Plunkett and now Claydon spring to mind, Davies, Plunkett and Claydon were all efectively banished from playing cricket at any level for Durham forcing them to seek other clubs while still having more than a year left of their contracts.

How is that anything other than poor treatment?

I was as surprised as any of you Durham fans when Plunkett moved down the coast and, given his form over the last 2 seasons, was concerned that he might just be an expensive import. However, he seems happy to be reunited with Martyn Moxon and enjoying working under Dissie Gillespie.

I can only comment on what I've picked up from Yorkshire. Plunkett says he is enjoying his cricket again and, so far, he has put in a few solid performances. Early days, I know, but he has made a good contribution to a side in the top 3 that was widely tipped for relegation before a ball was bowled.

Sometimes players need a move, happens in every sport, especially when they have been at their local club.

He will do well for Yorkshire but he was stagnating up here and it would be hard not to argue it was"the right move for everyone.
