India vs England First Test

should kp open? we need someone to get us off to a good start instead of building pressure on ourselves. would take some pressure off of compton as well

We are never going to do very well on the international stage for a continued period of time because our bowlers are bought up on such bowler friendly wickets. We have had a fortunate run of fixtures and have now been found out in that we have two world class players in Cook and KP, some good players underneath them and some average ones below them.

You do not stay as number 1 side in the world when not one of your bowling attack has a career average under 30

take a bow son

Havent seen the wickets but I'm guessing from the reactions on here that they werent very good deliveries?

take a bow son

They too have done fuck all as of yet. Or am I missing something?

Also, are you taking a bow about predicting Broad was to be the next Botham?

1 decent delivery from Ashwin, but it's more to do with how we went about it. Cook hit 2/3 boundaries early on, but apart from that we just tried to defend. Invited more and more pressure, more men around the bat and in the end it proved to be too much.

nothing like a drubbing in the sub continent to get the natives restless on here

If Cook and KP dont get hundreds we wont reach the 5th day

As long as its good cricket I dont care if we get a drubbing or not 8-)

Cheers. I will catch up when I get home. Thing is, if they are good deliveries that force defensive play then that is good bowling (building pressure).

Which is why Pietersen is vital to England. He is the only one with the bollocks (maybe Prior too) to take the attack to spin bowlers and get men away from the bat. He will come a cropper on a fair few occasions doing so but then again most of our batsmen come a cropper by doing nowt apart from scratch around.

Playing one proper spinner in India was criminal and as a result India have racked up 500+ which allows them to be as attacking as they like to England and that effectively means game over.

Other than Bangladesh, the best we can hope for are tied series in the sub continent and even then its dependent on us winning the toss IMO

Spot on.

Pietersen is vital tomorrow, if he sticks around we may have a chance of saving the game. We really need a very big partnership from him and Cook, 150 minimum really.

I just fear Pietersen will get a decent 40/50, get out cheaply and then we'll try and scratch about, and we'll be skittled for less than 250

That's always the fear with him, hopefully we'll see a similar innings to the one he played at the start of the series against India last year. Cook was also encouraging at the start of his innings before becoming a bit too defensive, hopefully that was just because it was the end of the day.

Whos samit patel trying to kid, saying we have the same potential of batsmen as the indians, saying theres still him and prior to come in. Indians will be dreading that :lol:

Also saying it wouldnt have been different if monty had played, i think it would considering hes a much much better bowler than you and spin is taking all the wickets up to now.

So in conclusion, get that f***ing rank average cricketer away from any test side for the next 10 year cos hes f***ing rubbish

Why do our seamers not change the way they bowl depending on where they are playing? Yes we appear to bowl a few more scrambled seam deliveries but in the main the line they are bolwing here is the same they bowl in England. Difference being the line which is threatening in England is simply asking to be slapped in the likes of India.

Sky refused to pay the extra 500k or whatever it was.

Because they're not very good mate, no swing and they're totally devoid of any ideas as to what to do about it.

Spin is always the way to go in asia, hence why they all play 2. ( Im not classing patel as a spinner btw)

So England are the Sunderland of the cricket world

Good post. The team selection was a clear mistake but i honestly dont think it would have made the world of difference. Monty should have played but is a bit out of sorts and on balance i dont think it would have prebented them scoring big. The problem is our batsmens continued inability to play spin.

He's great at playing spin, Ian Bell. Tried to smack his first ball over the top and made a right arse of it and hit it straight to mid off.
