Hatred or just friendly banter against the Mags?

HATE seems such a daft word to use, I mean has a mag done anything to hurt your family, nicked your car, set fire to your house, swindled you out of your life savings etc ?? Probably not.

However, having been chased by 16 twa*s who alighted a mini bus back in 78 {Withe/Greenwood game} and almost kicked to f$$k, I had a rabid dislike of them for many years, and then in your work life you meet lads who are mag fans and most are good lads and then you think 'do I really hate them?'

I'm at the stage now {50} where I can't bring myself to hate them - I can't stand ignorance and arrogance of anyone - mag, mackem, cockney, scouser etc, and when I hear mags on the radio spouting bollocks, instead of feeling hate, I just feel pity.

Mind if they get a late winner on Sunday via a dodgy penna that might change !

Had too many great nightouts in Newcastle, too many friends who were mags, to hate them.

Of course I never went through that whole silly Geordie Nation stupidity..heck we were all geordies in the 70s..at least that's what we sang. They tried to beat me up in Pink Lane in 79..but what the hell..only time I was ever stabbed and that was a Sunderland supporter in the Fulwell from Hendon..didnt like i was from Boldon.

Shit happened in those days.

Glad I missed all that Sky..Nation stuff to be honest. Of couse I'd love to beat them this weekend but I know I have more in common with someone at whatever their ground is called these days than I will ever have with a Chelsea or QPR fan...I am the son of a coal miner from the Northumberland and Durham coalfield...when they kick in my front door if i got to pick I know who I'd rather have standing with me.. and it wouldn't be a cockey.

Anyday.

Sorry.

quality post!

try and imagine if the roles had been reversed the last 20 years. everything you say about us, arrogance etc there is no doubt in my mind that we would be saying the exact same things about you. admittedly we got lucky with the whole keegan era, getting into the PL & sky promoting the Geordie nation crap. However the resurgence of the team coupled with the resurgence of the city gave the whole city a lift and a feel good factor which imo made you lot slightly jealous/envious hence the hatred. Both sets of fans have their utter tools,
i will even concede that we appear to have more, again though this is perpetuated by the media imo who have their own agenda.
All in all as quoted above, i know who i would want standing next to me when the time came. ........anyone from the north east!

I think this hate thing is all a bit pathetic really.
I mean how can any reasonable person hate someone merely for supporting another football team, especially as it's usually just depends on where you happen to be born

On the contrary Newcastle and it's fans have given me cause for delight on many occasions.

The relegation in particular, and that young un in a black and white shirt crying his eyes out in the crowd afterwards was quite funny.

anyone spotted RFE recently? or is he off thinking up a new username? I note DCMackem's post seems to have rendered the likes of Wacky speechless

With an identity as a national laughing stock, aye. Every third-rate comedian has the thick, sentimental "jawdee" character getting worked up over nothing as a fall-back for a cheap laugh. Your "identity" is on a par with the boring Brummie and the thieving Scouser- fat, pastie-munching mags hanging around that big grey eyesore like flies around shit, spouting incomprehensible twaddle about "wor beloved toon". That's your identity to most people. You must be so proud.

What actually hurts us is that our accents are the same as yours to people outside the area and we get lumped in with you. It hurts to be associated in any way with the kind of people who hold mock funerals for the name of a football ground, who proclaim themselves a "nation" like the Catalan people and can't see how ridiculous that is, people who think they're living in some cultural oasis because woah, there's a big shopping centre over the water and a gallery with nowt of any worth in it... and fuck me if there's not a regional airport close by, there's a thing.

More than anything else, Newcastle United and its supporters have held back the North East as a region by sullying its image for outsiders. A region of hard-working, down to earth people who can laugh at themselves has been hijacked over the last 20 years by sanctimonious, humourless, pretentious bores droning on and on about their f***ing heritage and their "geordie pride". In your determination to prove that you're the bestest, loyalest, cushtiest fans in all the world, you just give the world the impression that you have got absolutely nothing in your lives, that the only thing that can light up the darkness of your Cruddas Park grief-holes is the chance to weeble about the place dressed like giant mint humbugs grunting, "toon toon black and white army" even though you're on the bus and it's Thursday morning. We hate you because you embarrass us and you embarrass the whole region. Now fuck off.

Outstanding sir 8-)

Banter.
Anyone who sees it as anything more needs to have a long, hard look at themselves, then seek professional help as they'll need it to cope with life if such things bring out a 'hatred' in them.
FFS!

Absolutely shite post, but not surprising to see the trained seals on here clapping their fins and barking approval  I saw on the news just the other day a Sunderland fan (who looked like he'd munched a fair few pasties himself) leaving court after pleading guilty to posting racist tweets. Now that's an embarrassment to the region - and one you can't pin on us.

Oh, and if you are going to try and get all erudite on our black and white arses, at least make sure you've spelt common four-letter words correctly. It's whoa, you plonker.

chomp f***ing tastic you dumb kernt

more pls!

Superbly written and utter bollocks - nicley done

Do you suffer from selective hearing loss ?
Did you not hear the reporter add that a Scumcastle fan is on bail for the same feckin thing or did you just choose not to post that bit ?
Must try harder Muppet.

Most of the Mags on here come on to wind people up, on most occasions you have acrtually added to some of the debates with some well made points. Sadly with your post here it is not the case.

im not sure what is beyond hatred but i felt that waking up today. fuck em all

It's a bit like that scene in Trainspotting when they are on the tracks and one of them goes on about being under the yoke of the English, another replys how pathetic the Scots are to be dominated by a set of numbnuts.

They've demonized/slagged of Sunderland to such an extent when we finish higher than them or beat them they go into some sort of suicidal, in denial, psychopathic state that they can be bettered by what they see as their inferiors.
