We had just beat Stoke 2-0 at home and were sitting 4th bottom on 12 points amazing how similar it is after 14 games this season.

Was it after that Stoke win we went on a horrendous run?

9 more wins i reckon this season

10 wins total are usually what it takes as they're usually matched by a similar number of draws = magic 40 points. 7 more wins and 6 draws would give us 38.

Yep, short sighted being the operative word, as it was the owners call, particularly the latter (hence Sam didn't get him either, despite having more time than Moyes to get it done).
People relentlessly argue the owner backs his managers. Which he does to moderate investment.

But in figures alone.

It's Short's decision making that's all wrong.

We never buy early in windows - I can only assume he likes to try a last minute bargain - which never works.
He never sanctions the 'quality' signings we've been crying out for.

And he plays the Financial Fair Play card over wages when it suits.
No other club hides behind FFP quite like Sunderland.

He didn't. The squad was down to sixteen players by the time he came

Kaboul forced his hand. Yedlin is shite. Short wouldn't pay for Mvila. Hence Allardyce, who had more time to complete the deal than Moyes, didn't get him.

The money was spent to get the squad back up in numbers and given the limited time he went for young uns to blood in (injuries galore meant they were thrown in) and players he knew he could get in quickly.

You have an agenda and you love Steve Bruce. Basically what I'm saying is, you are clueless marra.
"In your opinion" unless you have documented evidence.

You sure mate?

It was only a few games ago that we were 1 or 2 points better off as we were at the same point last season and none on here could believe it. I thought we'd have actually been doing better after our recent wins.

Just checked and you're right, one point better off we were at the same stage.

It wasn't as close between the bottom and mid table as it is this season though.

December was grim last year. That first twenty minutes against Watford :lol:

Ah yes, Allardyce going 3 at the back and having to change it after 20 minutes. Decides to try it again a week later at Chelsea and again has to change it around the 20 minute mark.

Aye checked and last season after 14 games we had 12 points

I don't think we can afford to be as poor in December as we were last year. Swansea are a bit of a shambles at the moment, if we get at them nice and early, it's definitely one we can win. The last thing we want to do is give them any sort of confidence. A good start like we had yesterday and hopefully we can get an early goal.

Things are starting to come together, but we are still short of quality in a few areas. Leicester are not very good at the moment and there will be sterner challenges ahead.

There has been a huge improvement but we still have a decent way to go to stay up. I would be hoping we sign a couple of first-team quality players in January. Centre-back could be a big issue if both Kone & Djilobodji go the ACON- it would only leave JOS & Denayer.

What unadulterated bollox.
Moyes inherited a very very good squad that was playing top 8 football over the last dozen games.
He was gappy to let kaboul, mvila and yedlin go.
He was given 30 m to spend to replace them and bought shite mostly
Bollocks he took over a squad late in the window when the previous manager left us in the lurch. We had a good finish to last season but we do that every season then struggle the following season. Happy to let Kaboul go !! He wanted to go for personal reasons, yedlin n mvilla weren't ours to let go. Yedlin was that good he's now playing championship football. To add to that Moyes has had to deal with a big injury list

I think who we played had something to do with it...it was a very tough run of games iirc.

Most of it his own doing, it must be said.

You pissed? Allardyce shipped so many out in the summer we were down to sixteen. The only member of the squad Moyes sold was Kaboul. You only weaken a squad when you sell players and replace them with worse. He didn't as the only player he sold was Kaboul.
