In fairness jenson had a shite car most of his career. The BARs were shite and the one race he nearly won and the car blew up on the home straight was devestated for.him.
You could argue the McLaren in 2009 was absolute dogshit but Hamilton got the most points from the second half of that season.

Hamilton spent last year in a poor Merc and the two seasons previous in a poor McLaren. You could also argue his record would be even more impressive if he'd not had to race in some pretty poor cars.
you're reaching, thats just a few years, jense has had shite cars almost his entire career

4 podiums, can't have been that bad, the BAR was never competitive in that way

Aye i meant to say that one race.
i spoke to him on his mobile just after he won, something about the fella next to him on the podium didn't take his hat off for the national anthem so jense knocked it off

Imo you could put them both in the Merc this season and Lewis would come out on top, because hes the better driver.

then how come jenson has beaten him in the same car before

And if it wasn't for three stupid mistakes in China. 2007 Monza 2010 and Singapore 2010 Hamilton would be three times champion
thats hardly a shining example of how good he is

Drivers make mistakes they all do.

they are both world champions

Hamilton should have been champion in his first season. Without being hampered by team orders costing him key points, and the insane decision to pointlessly keep him out on those wrecked tyres in the last race, he would have been the clear champion. Hamilton has had some poor luck throughout his career, a lot worse than some of his competitors.

It was incredible that today there were cheers over the sound of the engine on the overtake of Rosberg for the man that the Italians pretty much hated just a few seasons ago. He is one of the best drivers F1 has seen, and he is also one of the most respected in the sport. In the last few seasons while Vettel has had the massive technical advantage he has been putting some sublime drives, along with Alonso. It would have been great to seen Kubica up there with them, as I think he was potentially on the same sort of level, but thankfully although he is not able to compete in F1 anymore, he is still alive.

You can point to the fact that over the 3 seasons they spent together at McLaren, Jenson outscored Lewis. They're both great drivers though, completely different styles, but with a championship each to their name, they obviously haven't done too much wrong when given a fast car.

In the same way Ricciardo has had the better of Vettel this season. It doesn't mean hes a better driver though.

in a nutshell

Tha Brawn car in 2009 only had an advantage up until the point that the FIA ruled their double diffuser was legal. Button sustained the lead he built up from thereon in and was a worthy champion, as worthy as Hamilton's was the year before.

Neither could hold a candle to James Hunt.
