So finally starting to come down from the high of the competition on Sunday. Thoroughly enjoyed competing against some of the strongest guys in the country and world. Got to see Andy Bolton's return to full power competitions and seen a 900kg total at 110kg which just further reminded me of the work I have ahead to be competitive. I set my first GPC British record, which is a start. Narrowly missing out on the 1,500lb total is very frustrating though.

My revised squat goal for the year is 280kg, which would give me a British record in either the 100 or 110 classes.

Junior total? 110 class? Anyhow f***ing well done!!!

Of all things... Bench

It's not something I'm particularly bothered about as I know 82.5s with higher benches but it just means I need to get it closer to 180 and set a better standard

Day five of squatting up to a max in a row. Gave high bar a go today and just worked up to 192.5kg in just a belt. Very easy. Looking to really hammer my quad dominant squat variations until they're all above 5 plates on a bad day.

If you're looking up then you're more likely to arch your back, try and look straight forward, do them infront of a mirror and admire your exemplary form.

I do it in front of a mirror mate that's how I noticed it, well that and the strain from it. It seems it just automatically happens to follow the path as I'm focused on making sure the press goes straight up instead of behind or in front.

Prep for euros starts next week. Will truly be pushing myself to me physical and mental limits. Started a Bulgarian approach this week but just pissed about with variations more than anything. Things start properly Monday

So, a mate of a mate says to me last night "you need to go to the gym tomorrow" to which I was like "you what? Why?". His response was, "you used to be really trim"

Bitch that's why I'm in the f***ing gym training my arse off to have got bigger and stronger!! SMFH man!:lol:

Apologies to @Charmless Man but here comes mobility update #494

Get yourselves one of these to throw in your gym bag lads, "The Stick"...

Basically like a rolling pin but with 3 rotating bits in the middle which allows you to massage/roll out any DOMS or use it in your warm up. Got one off Amazon to see if I could use it better than my foam roller and it's superb especially on the hams and quads.

Well worth a tenner if you squat a few times a week.

Loose outline of how I plan to train for Euros (starting Monday):

Monday:

High Bar Squats
Close Grip Bench

Tuesday:

Low Bar Squats
Competition Bench
Sumo Speed Pulls

Wednesday:

Safety Bar Squats
Overhead Press

Thursday:

Loosely Wrapped High Bar Squats
Close Grip Bench

Friday:

Low Bar Paused Squats
Comp Bench
Conventional Speed pulls

*Note - Everything is working up to a heavy single, double of triple. On good days I'll do a back off set or two. This is not a programme I'd advise for most, you'll probably feel like shit, at least for the first few weeks and if you don't have a good idea of autoregulation you'll probably get hurt. However I'm close to British records and will be competing internationally in my next meet and intend to push myself to the edge of my recovery capacity.
