Everton and their fondness of SAFC

On holiday last week, met some Everton fans (albeit smashed in a bar in Ibiza)
Anyway I got talking to them as you do and football was brought up. That said understanding a scouser sober is hard enough let alone being inebriated.
Mad Everton fans and when I said I was SAFC fan they loved it and have utmost respect for our fans and club.
In their words we were "their second team" and "ask any Everton fan and they'll say the same"
I for one like Everton as a club and would regard them as a second club.
Is what they were saying true and what was the reason; wandered if it's Peter Reid but either way was news to me

Yet on the other hand you could be in Majorca, walking through Magaluf in a Sunderland top and get abused by Everton fans?

Actions of a few fans don't tell the whole story, it's pretty obvious that us and them don't see each other as rivals so I'm sure banter would happen more often than fighting between both sets of fans.

Because they are the poor relations in their region as well, just like Man City always were. Thats why ive always had lots of time for Everton and Man City. Not so much Man City now like.
man city only win the prem if safc take 4 points off them

Im on about the 'John Hall era' if you like, they were signing Shearer for 15m and we had only just broke the 1m barrier. They were new well backed pretenders to the title throne and we were the unfashionable, passionate underdogs. The whole nation wanted us to get one over on them whenever we played.

Bunch of bin dipping no marks in my experience and happy to smack kids from behind.

Have no time for them whatsoever.

Never minded Everton, always been nice fans when visiting there place.
A joke, right?

Sadly I was joking and I agree with you and in fact I told a mag mate about it who pointed out the exact same thing.
I'm not sure their fondness of us as a club would be drawn as a similarity of our inferiority within the region though,
They've had their day over Liverpool as we have over the mags

Man City are my second favourite team for the same reason.
They hold us in high regard? They were pricks at the final IMO

No cracked on with fans the 3 times I've been there. We had some banter in a pub when liverpool and mags were on tv. Think liverpool won 5 nowt.
