Ok, so which of the following need to be on auto?

Aperture
Shutter speed
Iso
Focus
White balance
Correct me if I'm wrong, but if you set your camera to "auto" - aperture, shutter speed, ISO would be chosen "automatically". As would focus and I think whitebalance. I am using my compact as a point of reference though.

When the theme was chosen, I would guess that it was meant that you should just put your camera on AUTO rather than you having any say in the shutter speed etc etc[DOUBLEPOST=1396226057][/DOUBLEPOST]And ...

I'm hoping you are all going to enter the March technique! Gallery is looking pretty empty :(

Not all cameras have the same levels of automation on auto. A DSLR for example you can still set the lens to manual focus on auto. Program, aperture priority and shutter priority could also be considered automatic modes.

I would suggest all of the factors listed in my previous post should be automatic.

I would say just set your camera to the "auto" setting if you have one. If for anybody who is interested in entering in the next few hours, only has a camera with no "auto" setting then just try and use it in such a way that the camera does as much as it possibly can automatically.[DOUBLEPOST=1396304135][/DOUBLEPOST]NB.
I'll probably set up the voting thread for March on the evening of 1.4.14.
I will also open the April gallery 1.4.14 in the evening also.

lets be honest here, the competition is dying on its arse. Why don't we just have an open comp? Add 1 picture per month from the shots you've taken in that given month with a small explanation behind you're thinking and what you were trying to achieve and vote on your favourite shot.

My theme was to encourage people to read up about different techniques and ask how and why it works.........no one entered or people added joke entries.
Last months theme was "auto" - the polar opposite, accessible to everyone........no one entered.

By having an open comp you're not pushing people to change their usual subjects or how they go about their photography or what they're interested in capturing, you're just creating a small community where people display their pictures and get a little feedback from other members.

Your theme was more popular than the following 'easy' one I notice

Rain is hard to get a representative shot for, even as someone who does it for a day job

I was thinking of getting a young lady next to a rainy window (cliche, i know) but i went and sold my bloody polariser cause my landscape lens is too wide for it and it gives uneven results over the frame.
