Your West indies squad and 1st test team

Rhodes
Crawley
Malan
Root
Stokes
Livingstone
Bairstow (wk)
Wood
Mahmood
Broad
Leach

Lees, Lawrence, Foakes, Anderson, Robinson, Parkinson

Stone and Archer when they're fit.

I like Will Rhodes and Liam Livingstone's character, we need and injection of bottle into this team.

Robinson is an interesting one. I agree he has been a success so far, and on form looks a international bowler of some pedigree, but I can see why he wasnt picked before

His batting is appalling to the point I dont think he is even trying, when you see how much Mark Wood tried. His fitness is well below the standards of international cricket. when you put them together as a package, they just damage him slightly.

I would still pick him but he really needs to realise that this is it for him, does he want to really knuckle down and play 50 tests+ or not

I strongly disagree with those criticising Lewis for replying to a question abot his fitness

I want to see more interviews like that from the coaches, its all too cozy and too afraid to criticise. It isnt acceptable that Robinson cant keep his pace anywhere near for a full day, not when its his job.

West Indies is a big series for him for me.

Aye we need bottle and technical proficiency, its a difficult balance which isnt easy

Its hard to argue that we lacked bottle during some of those collapses though.
Burns
Crawley
Malan
Root
Stokes
Bairstow
Buttler
Robinson
Wood
Broad
Anderson

Possibly replace one of the seamers with Parkinson depending what the wickets like

So basically no changes! Haway marra

The major factor in that is becuase they were playing the number one test side in the world and Australia in Australia.

Would them players have lost them matches against lesser nations personally I don’t think soo.

I think for England to make no changes at all after that performance would be a big shout and not sure the Public would take it

Well I think you right there, but there is no doubt in my mind the quality of India, Australia and New Zealand, and especially playing a lot of those tests in India and Australia has had a massive bearing on that bad run.

Personally for the West Indies would not over react and drop that many, but think you right more will be dropped to appease the public.

Some might come in and possibly do better, what I do know is they have more chance of doing well against West Indies than Australia and India!

I don’t think they is 6 better batsman than Bairstow in this country really don’t.
Geezer I used to play cricket with at Belvedere called Harry. Number 11. We all used to laugh and say he was the worst player to ever pick up a cricket bat.

Better than Bairstow.

Don’t bite for the Rey he’s after it!
The one I’m undecided on is Malan

Showed his class first 2 tests then tired badly

Been on the road 4 months, not seen his pregnant lass in 4 months!! Then she gives birth when he is not there. I mean Haway.

I think if he is gonna be kept he needs leaving out of the t20 stuff. It’s s tough call like. How badly does he want it? That might be the question. I think he has the game to do OK.

Id let stokes stay in England and get some form before the summer, Anderson would let rest up

Leach should remain first spinner imo, although I agree with Parkinson as the alternative.

Anderson is our best bowler and should play every game. Not sure what he’s being rested for with six weeks until the next game? Him over Broad for me.

I’d like to see Laurence get a go at six too. He’s shown flashes of promise so far imo.

this is excellent and fair

analyses all the main batsman this series, technically not just for headlines

I think theres been more going on with Anderson this series then theyve let on, even Anderson was saying he was targeting 3 tests. Is in the best team - yes

I think more public school educated chaps and a few more Oxford and Cambridge Blue should sort it. Oh and another addition to the squad would be an allrounder who plays the piano. Similar to A C Smith (Amateur) 1962-3 MCC tour.
