Festive Overture - Shostakovich (my all time fav)
Short ride in a fast machine - John Adams
Appalachan Spring - Aaron Copeland
Firebird Suite - Stravinsky
La Mer - Debussy
Symphony No.5 in D Minor - Shostakovich

been lucky enough to play a few of these pieces.
 
This one's one of my favourite ever bits of music from any genre
And sooooooooooooooooooooo Sally can waaaaaaaaait.


Class aye.

Our lass's cousin once removed or summit is in the Royal Philharmonic, and her family are basically the Von Trapps. They played this as a string quartet for us when she walked down the aisle. Immense.

When I’m feeling morose.

There is only one piece. This brings me to tears. For me it’s the most moving piece of music ever written.

Barbers Adagio for strings. Give it time, it builds to the most incredible crescendo.

That's beautiful. You know there's a version for unaccompanied choir as well? Pop 'Barber Agnus Dei' into YouTube and you'll find it. Lovely stuff.

Even though when I was a younun I was referred to as a " Punk rock bastard" :lol: by an old bloke at work, I'm an old bloke now.
