You Tubers

I was talking about YouTube rather than social media like Instagram. Influencers on YouTube appear to be content creators who have built up a large following and so can generate income from product sponsorship. They then push that product in their videos. They all start off as creators though to build that fanbase in the first place. There's a few different definitions of an influencer on the web. They are content creators who got lucky is as good as any description. Good luck to them and other YouTubers is what I say. Some of them get more views than mainstream TV shows and their stuff is more watchable.

Instagram was just an example as that was a court case that happened. The term influencer refers to them on any platform attempting to influence people to buy the product they're promoting

I know but YouTube influencers still put out video content that they've created just like any YouTuber. I don't know what social media influencers do as I don't do social media like Instagram.

Only the top 1% make any real cash. And it takes alot of time to actually he any good.

Also gone are the days of luck getting you noticed alot of these are now very talented and have a team behind them.

What culture from Gateshead is now owned by future publishing etc.

It’s no different to people wanting to be rockstars or footballers when we were younger. Some will make it big, others will fail and others will pick up a few quid to pay their way.
That's where i'm at with it. Learning to play an instrument to be famous and rich via the music you make. But you can't get famous if your music is shite. Mr Beast is backed by something as there is no reason i've sen he should have that many followers.
What are people's thoughts on this?

More and more people doing this for a living, I think its quite sad myself, please hit the like and describe button, buy me a coffee if you like, almost like legalised begging.

One good thing I suppose is this pursuit has given people who in a lot of instances, previously had issues, socially inadequate, oddballs, weirdo's something to get their teeth into, giving their lives some meaning, rather than spending day after day watching porn or playing games on the play station, or been sent to the stockroom at work to count staples and drawing pins.

I watch a lot of You Tube, and there are some talented people showing me some interesting things, about the things I have an interest in such as pubs, politics, football grounds, hiking, allotments etc. People like Tweedys pubs, By the Curb, Wandering Turnip, Martin Zero, Trekking Exploration. There are others though who are higher grade knobheads, such as Charles Veitch and other right wing orientated people who just seem to thrive on confrontation and agitation, click bait to get views.

I am a live and let live person, but I worry about a world, where in future the lack of jobs, will see many more people resorting to this for a living. Luckily I probably won't be around to witness going down the pub and having a Go Pro thrust in my face or some little scroats harassing me with a drone when I'm out walking, but this folks could be the future.
I wish they would stop begging for subs and notifications, but we all know why they do. If someone asks for that or shares a sponsor within a minute, i'm out.

That McMaster anorak fella's a good laugh, parks next to EVs then mocks the EV driver all from the driving seat of his very own EV that he claims hes lost £65k on....😄 Needs to stick to finding €1 pints.

Surely that is a massive contradiction. You think it is sad yet watch a lot of YouTube yourself.

A Youtuber that is interesting to you may possibly seem like "knobheads" to another viewer and vice versa.

I watch YouTube much more often than I watch television. The ability to switch on and find videos or livestreams about any topic that I care to think of is pretty damn amazing. If any Youtubers channel is making them a good income then it can only be proof that their content appeals to a good number of people irrespective of what others think.

Jobs evolve with time, many jobs deemed essential to society 200 or even 50 years ago do not exist any more.

Cinema and TV in its current guise will gradually die IMO. We will see people streaming their own content and success will directly correlate to how popular it is. Rather than the current situation where there are many barriers to breaking into the sector. That can only be a good thing.

I like his travel videos. Don't watch the EV ones.

Yes I thought that, but a massive contradiction? do give over ! A contradiction maybe, but not massive. I have even considered doing it myself, suppose that will be another contradiction? but I still think its a sad way to make a living, but that is the world we now live in, less jobs, more people going around with Go Pros and Selfie sticks, its not a world I'm looking forward to living in, that is all I was trying to say in the OP.

I do enjoy watching the dozen or so You Tubers I follow, talking about pubs, industrial history, camping, hiking, football grounds, politics etc and like you its now competing with television for my time.

Many moons ago, I had a website that used to get about 500k people a month , this was Just as youtube was starting , I tried to add videos and what not to the site but it never got traction and I gave up, I regretted that a few years later when new sites over took mine because of the video content .

you need to be a certain type of person to put your mug on the screen like , I’d hate it
