Years following the lads

45 years. April 1981, first game I remember being at (beaten at home off Brighton). Prob been taken to a couple before that but that's the first one I have a memory of.
 

56 years since my first "first team" game in our second relegation season:( Got beat of West Ham with their world cup winners playing.

I had been to Roker Park a year or two earlier to see the youth team beat WBA 6-0 to secure the FA Youth Cup, not quite sure of the year but what a first game, seeing the lads lift a cup!!

Wasn’t it just something else! I had never in my life seen something as green as it was that night.

It’s the Proust effect in action I think where a sense creates a lifelong memory. Any Psychologists on the board may be able to shed some light on it? Quick google suggests…

So there we go. Maybe it’s why we fall in love over and over again as adults with the game and our clubs? What a beautiful thing.

I still have that image of that grass in my head regularly.

42 years for me, and just to add, I never thought I would ever see Europe. I thought the Reid years were great, this is something different

Nearly 56 years - first game as a 10yr old v Bolton Oct 1970 - 4-1 win.

Thought they'd all be like that :rolleyes:
