Yann M'vila - target or not?

Brilliant response and no explanation of how many examples signing older players on a free so far this model has brung in since its been implemented 👍 but saying we'll sign anyone doesn't matter what age they are aslong as they are free covers all angles.... so there's no model then aslong as they are free ?
😂😂 Well given we got Batth, Evans, Pritchard, Dack and Defoe on frees sort of explains it.

It's not like there isn't examples. Fuck me 😂😂

Nothing wrong with signing an older player on a free, I'm not really a fan of paying a fee for a player you will never see a financially return on. I noticed Ipswich are paying £1.3m for a 33 year old winger from Sheff Wed, It won't be long until they are in financial trouble.

Very fair point on some. Defoe signed because of fans love in similar to this one and ended up a massive failure. Dack signed because he's Mowbrays love child clearly.

The other ones I'll give you but alot were signed to help us get out of a shit tin pot league and the focus has clearly changed since we got in the Championship. Don't have to go any further down the team than the strikers to see the hopes of future "potential" value.

There's nobody in this world who can tell me the "model" isn't clearly focused on developing youngsters and selling for a profit. That's literally all what has been talked about on here for years 😂 the Brighton way and whatever other clubs.

And to be honest despite saying he'd start for us with 50% of his previous ability I don't even think we'll sign him.

8 months since he kicked a ball. Spent all of his time since he left us playing for a mid-table Russian side, a mid-table French side, and 3 years in the Greek league.

Oh and he's approaching 34. Naturally, he's become Kevin De Bruyne now that we might sign him.
6 months until he's 34.
He's younger or same age as 44 other Championship players. His Greek team finished Champions twice and top 3 once.
They reached the last 16 of the Europa League in that time too. It would take our backroom set up 30 minutes to discover what physical shape he's kept himself in.
He would be recruited not just for his ability (would be best in league in position even now) but more importantly his influence in the dressing room.
Oh and he's free, cheap and would unite a splintered fan base.

I'll save you trawling through the tread on this because it's Friday and I'm a canny bloke.
He hasn't played since June last year but has kept himself in tip top shape.
Prior to that he player 120 games for Olympiacos including 30 in Europe. That's 30 league games and 10 European games for each of the last 3 seasons and most importantly, evenly spread.
His Greek side finished as Champions twice and a third place finish. They reached the last 16 of the Europa League once in that time.

He claims to be ready to play within a week of training. Hope this helps x
Appreciated! Enjoy your Friday.

The model clearly allows older players to be signed. Rightly we spend our money on younger players who can either make us a tidy profit or help improve us as we help improve them.

I agree but they clearly don't like older players do they. Baath forced out to play O9 in his position. If you believe every article in the summer they couldn't wait to try and rid of Pritchard.

But then on the other hand they go and give a crooked Evans a contract extension 😂 and sign a crooked Dack for TM.

Who actually knows what the model is now I think about it! 😂

They finished 3rd in a 1 horse race. Olympiakos have won the title in 20 of the last 24 seasons. Its like winning the SPL.

Haway, that's absolutely ridiculous nonsense. We have absolutely no idea what level he's at, because he's played for nobody of note since he left us and played for nobody at all for over 8 months.

He might be decent, he might be absolutely sh1te. He'd be a good PR stunt, and probably good in the dressing room.

That looks to be a good decision though no?

Im obviously happy we're potentially signing a "holding" midfielder, with experience. But, I cat help but think if we were signing a 33 year old who hadnt played for 6months there'd be hell on!
