If the club are signing him purely down to him being a fans favourite and actually reading the room for once we are generally fucked as good as he was 7 years ago of whatever it was.

Not a hope in hell they'd even look at him if he wasn't popular amongst the fans, if they are actually looking at him anyway. The so called model would of went into meltdown when it hit the age check.

That being said if he's even got 50% of his old talent he'll be in our starting line up.

14th May. Much less of a lay off than some of our injured players last year. It’s not like he wasn’t playing every minute or every game for his last club. He said he needed a bit of a rest after playing 140 games in 3 seasons. Might find that this rest has done him a world of good and allows him to play on to 38.

The other part of the model, is experienced older players on a free or minimal fee. Never changed.

Brilliant response and no explanation of how many examples signing older players on a free so far this model has brung in since its been implemented 👍 but saying we'll sign anyone doesn't matter what age they are aslong as they are free covers all angles.... so there's no model then aslong as they are free ?

That’s what the stats show but if you look deeper it was a slow turn around building up to that late run with top 6 form.. His performance data management, player fitness and injury management takes time to impact individuals and the squad.. his signings helped too mind. I think a lot of us assume that if he had stayed that late season momentum would have carried on.. we’ll never know.
