Yann M'vila - target or not?

He hasn't played on the wing for us but played a lot of his youth career on the right wing.

Wouldn't fancy him playing there with a total lack of pace. His strong points are technically ability and playing in close spaces with the ball at his feet. Think he'd be a decent holding midfielder if he toughens up a bit. Can score goals in the box coming forward but don't think he's good enough striking from distance yet to play in CAM over the likes of Pritch, I think even Riggy is better in that CAM role from what I've seen. Should be playing him more.

Aye doesn’t look like a winger to me like, much more effective in the CM or CAM role from what I’ve seen.

Bellingham shouldn’t be currently playing the amount of minutes he is. He’s a great footballer but has, at times, looked like he’s running through treacle. Ekwah is another young player learning his trade. For every good match he has, he has a shit one. Ideal to bring him in & out sensibly.

We’ve had a problem in central midfield this season & it’s mainly down to relying on the same core of players.

I 100% agree but convinced they’re just going to run them into the ground. Hope I’m wrong like.

Superb

End of that season i really thought we were onto something special

Those 3, kone, khazri, kaboul, defoe, big sam

Then he fucked off and the rest is history
I think Allardyce and that season get completely blown out of proportion. We only got 39 points, surviving relegation by 2 points. Allardyce joined us in the October so had about two thirds of the season. People go on about how great things were at the end of the season. Okay the last 6 games, our form was good. But prior to those 6 games, we won only one in eleven and seriously looked like going down. Before that awful run we lost 5 times in a row around Christmas time. It really wasn't good. Why people think Allardyce was gonna make us great when we got 39 points completely baffles me. We stopped up by the skin of our teeth.

You can look at it like that, or you could say that once we had a settled team, we only lost 1 of the last 11 games and that was to the league champions.

Nope. He was mint.

Surviving relegation by 2 points is hardly mint. We finished 4th from bottom man.

Well either way you look at, finishing 4th bottom and surviving by 2 points isn't particularly good.

Once Allardyce implemented his ideas and fitness/sports science regime, we were a very difficult opponent and strong at home. Second half of the season we won 6 drew 9 lost 4. Doest sound fantastic, but we got stronger as time moved on and it felt like the draws would turn to wins not defeats, and indeed they were doing.
Beating Utd, Everton and Chelsea (who were on a great run) deservedly with a 2-2 at Anfield from 2-0 down, showed we were a different animal.

He took over in the October and that season we only won 9 games out of 38. Looked like going down until the last 6 games. His win percentage was worse than Martin O'Neil, Gus Poyet and exactly the same as Steve Bruce - all of whom we sacked. I will be fair and say that he did okay. But we can't ignore the facts here.

As you say stats don't lie, but he improved us progressively and there was no reason why wouldn't be performing similarly from the start of the following season in my opinion. He got the best out certain players were basically struggling with consistency and the squad was fairly much injury free with a regular starting line up that might involve one or two changes only.

His low spots were 0-1 home Watford, 4-1 loss at Spurs with Kirchoffs nightmare debut, a draw at Soton from a winning position where he made a negative substitution and handing the game to City on a plate at the Etihad with a weakened team selection in hope to be ready for the next match.

All of those had a few windows. SA didn’t. After the only window he had here we looked very good. I can’t stand him btw, didnt before he arrived and even less so after.

Surely his wages make this impossible

“I don’t need the money. I want to play. With all the respect I have for Ligue 2, I don’t see myself playing in this championship.

“There is only one club for which I would have agreed to return to the lower division for, it is Sunderland, to help them return to the Premier League. I had an extraordinary year there.

“I’m not just a footballer, I can help on and off the pitch, I know the moments of crisis. I am a reliable person. If you trust me, I’ll give it back to you a thousand times.”
