Wyke V Maja

Maja looked grumpy as fuck when he left the ground. Don't know if that's his usual demeanour or not though.

He would've ran f***ing rings around them man unless we played the ball up in the air all the time. He'd have been far far too quick

Of course he f***ing would, you tell em marra...

One of the best strikers the Premier League has ever seen would have struggled against AFC Wimbledon! Absurd. His movement would have bamboozled them. He'd have scored, without question. He's one of our best Premiership players, let alone this level. The OP that said he'd struggle is clueless.

Indeed, will do him well and no criticism of him at all. Defoe would’ve struggled against those CB’s and I think he’s modelling himself on JD.

He also tried his heart out as well and can see he’s been working on holding the ball up.

Defoe is on a different planet to league 1 defenders mate. He would score 50 goals if at safc and not injured this season even at 35ish imo.

I think today shows us the kind of game that Wyke will be used for. Maja has been great and even if Wyke had been fit I’d still say Maja should’ve started, but against a more physical side and balls in the air Wyke will be a great assett.
Maja needs to get his head out of his arse and start grafting. Hence Cattermole bollocking him today.

wait until we bring these knackered to the sol and they have to deal with Maja and wyke

Defoe at 19 would have struggled against that defence- maybe a fairer thing to say
just had a look and at 19-20 Defoe would have been on loan at league one (division two) Bournemouth where he scored 18 goals in 29 matches
Maja has a lot of potential imo

Maybe so but I wasn't the one who said Defoe would've struggled against them yesterday. Completely agree Maja does have a lot of potential but I'm not sure he'll make it at the top flight simply because he lacks the pace, he's neither quick off the mark or quick once he gets going and that'll be a big factor against good defenders at that level.

My point was if we had kept lumping it up to him, expecting him to have any joy against two massive CB’s.

You honestly believe he would have any joy if he was tried to win it in the air against those two CBS? I wasn’t on about his movement when it was on the ground, I was on about Maja trying to win balls in the air and how he struggled. As would Defoe.

One of the biggest benefits that Ross will be looking for from Wyke coming into the team is, ironically, defensively. We are very susceptible to conceding at set-plays at the moment and another big lad defending at corners/free kicks should make a difference.

Having said that, I really hope the Wyke & Maja will form a very effective partnership.

That’s a great comparison MSA. Nice research.

There seems to be an awful lot of in depth knowledge about Charlie Wyke on this board. I have never seen him kick a ball

Even thinking about comparing Maja to Defoe is funny farm stuff.

Horses for courses, wyke will give us greater presence away from home especially against those type of teams. I thought maja looked tired today, Getting Wyle and Sinclair back will help everyone including maja...

Definitely. He's a young lad and is bound to have dips in form. The more options the better for us and him.

Class finds a way mate. He'd buy fouls.
