Wrestling - Part 3

If you love it like a few of my mates it'll be a treat!. I don't have the attention span these days  ,they are better athletes than ever and have some good characters but it's far too clinical for my liking, everything seems so slick.

You can see them thinking which spot is next during matches, it's like a really over-choreographed acting/dancing scene at times.

There's barely any gimmicks either.

If the pre show is hosted by Stephanie Vaquer and Asuka in a sauna I might be interested other than that, nee chance 😂

Back then a load of the wrestlers came from amateur backgrounds or American football etc. So you had a mix of legit hard blokes and generational athletes. Now it's more about the presentation... Stand there, look into that, make sure you say this. As you say, it's too slick
Look at Mongo from WCW, god rest his soul he couldn't wrestle but he had an endearing side to him and had the personality to get away with it.

Travis Scott was someone else we didn't know about this side of the pond, but came across like a knob 🤣

Think this is it for me, spot on mate. Rather have a gimmick than a cookie-cutter athlete with the personality of a Victoria Sponge, Chad Gable is good like ;)

The first point you make is the bother for me mind. Everyone tries too many things and it can lead to stuff looking terrible imo. I watched Warrior/Kerry Von Erich Vs Rude/Perfect the other day and on paper that sounds a weird match but for the first few minutes they hardly did anything. It was mainly Rude telling fans to fuck off, Perfect flying around, Von Erich smiling at the lasses and Warrior shouting and it was class!

I'm not saying that's the standard but it was entertaining

Yeah Mongo had a huge personality like. You would want a pint with him if nowt else. Kevin Green around that time was actually good I seem to remember. They both at least looked like they could knack you

They were enthusiastic more than anything but that Scott character just seemed to care more about pushing his "brand" and he hurt Cody.

Just terrible him. Possibly the worst celeb involved ever. He hurt Cody for real and fucked up his "run in" at the ME of mania, all not because he was unsure or made mistakes but because he's clearly a daft twat
WWE has always used celebs all the way back to the first WM, but this all feels like a corporate butt kissing competition. I know you didn't agree with WrestleMe's take on Raw's Netflix premier but it does kinda sum up the problem with modern WWE for me.

I definitely have more empathy with Roddy Piper now and his distain for Mr. T having sat through 36 years worth of the shite celebrity involvements 😂.

It's simply not wrestling anymore. It's sports entertainment and that's basically wrestling with all the good stuff taking out.

I watched a bit WWE the other day and turned it off. Was like watching a TV show about wrestling or something. Most of them can't actually wrestle and all their characters seem to be the same, they all act like YouTubers or something shit. It's was dog awful.

Try watching LFG, honestly I dare you.

Cena face turn already? What a f***ing mess
Agree. That promo he did was utterly terrible. Brought up the rock and scott leaving him out to dry but the way he said it was all backstage orientated. What are we doing now here 😂. They might as well just sod the wrestling and sit on a stage reading scripts 😂

WWE has become so obsessed with how brilliant they all are with how they come up with everything they just tell everyone. Really shite

Spot on mate. "Look at how clever we are" - dare I say it, Vince wouldn't dream of putting himself in the limelight like HHH and his cronies and betraying some of the unwritten sacred stuff of the business.

Got total respect for that Iamspeed lad. He was legitimately raggled at the Royal Rumble..takes balls to put yourself through that. You take for granted the bumps the wrestlers take and are trained for. He was a civilian properly ragdolled.
