The Championship outside the top 2 is pretty average this season but to be honest you haven't got the first clue about us. 'This squad' is actually about half our squad.
We have three 6 foot plus centre halfs all injured (hamstring, knee injury etc.) hence us playing a very high risk passing game from the back. We also have our only real (6' 3") forward injured (ruptured achilles) hence Luton's goal yesterday as we only have 1 player of decent height in our entire fit squad!
Our captain has an ACL, his deputy is out until next season. Both our left backs are injured too. We are literally down to the bare bones in many areas of the pitch and are playing 7 or 8 kids every week, many of whom were probably signed with next season or longer in mind. We played 3 at the back yesterday with a playing we signed as an attacking midfielder in the middle of the back three with 1 right back on the right and our other right back (formerly a midfielder prior to this season) playing on the left.
Of yesterday's team (13) who got minutes, 9 players were 23 or younger and that's only because our goalkeeper had his birthday this week.
Obviously we would have to sign players if we went up. But our team is battling against the odds, now 10 games unbeaten, playing amazing football and scoring great goals along the way.
Would I be happier wallowing in blood money, playing Beheaddie shithousery ball and 3rd in the premier league? I would ask you, would you be rather the entertainers again? Because you're certainly are not now!
If you'd offered me what you have at the start of the season I probably would have taken it (even though I would be unhappy we'd sold out our soul to absolute twats). Now, I don't think I would. This team is amazing to watch, it's the best footballing side I've seen in my 45 years. We're on a journey, I love it
