I was in a timekeeping course last year and I think they said that there are actually 2 timing systems at work. The first time you see is from one system but the eventual time is from a slightly more accurate system.
They also have timekeepers timing with stopwatches in case both systems go wrong.

Gemma Reekie in the 800m is the obvious one. Georgia Bell was second fastest qualifier in the 1500m so must have a chance, Cindy Sember in the 60m hurdles. Women's relay may have a medal chance, I guess.
