Exercise Fyl mate, if you can get into anything that gets the blood pumping it works miracles in a short space of time. Hope you get yourself sorted soon mate, horrid when you end up bouncing off the walls 24/7.

No, I'm a Website Content Manager / Brand Manager / Design Concept Creator / Marketing Manager / Social Media Manager / Intellectual Property Law advisor for a clothing printing company's 2 biggest selling websites, and sole Licensing Executive / Contract Law Executive in charge of finding clients, writing legal contracts, and examining and proposing alterations to legal contracts from other companies for our new merchandising sister-company, for which I just landed them a massive merchandising deal for a popular computer game after working on it with no help from anyone else for the last year.

£8 an hour I'm on, getting criticised for micro-nonsense regularly, and just got a verbal warning on Monday for a bit of ludicrously minor workplace banter with a close friend in another department.

I work 4 days a week, and it costs me £15 a day in taxis to get to and from work, so for the last 3 years I've been working my ass off for them and living in practical poverty while they're creaming in the cash from the work I do for them.

If I were to quit, they'd need to hire at least 3 people to replace me, and would probably have to pay each of them more than they pay me.

Basically, one of the two directors doesn't like the fact I don't kiss his ass like a mindless worshipper, and so I think he's got my direct supervisor out looking for any possible infraction they can whip me with to force me out of the company legally.
Saw this and thought of you:

Anyone needed time off work with stress that was caused by your job/workplace/bosses?

Did you manage to go back to the same job afterwards or did you have to find somewhere else to work because going back would have been too stressful?

As of Wednesday I've been off with stress, but my doctor suspects that an illness I had a few weeks back that I had thought was a virus may actually have been stress too.

So, I've been prescribed a course of diazepam over the phone by the Urgent Care Doctor at my local surgery, and have a proper doctor's appointment in a week to see how I'm going, but right now pretty much my every waking thought is stressing about going back to my job, facing the same old shit that sent me this way in the first place but with the extra added stress of worrying about talking to them about having had time off with stress.

I'd quite like to hear about other people's experiences of being in similar situations if you don't mind sharing.

P.S. Diazepam's quite good isn't it?
I had stress with my job. I quit and never looked back. I also was prescribed sleeping tablets and beta blockers, all these do is mask the issue. Deal with the cause and the symptoms will fuck off

diazepam is indeed canny

I've just been diagnosed with Shingles at the base of my spine which is basically sending electric shocks up my body.... Doc reckons this is stress related and its my body's way of saying pack it in.... I'm trying but now stressed about the fact I mgiht be off sick now :(

Im going through it myself at the minute.

Constant worry, over thinking everything and at the worst its panic attacks.

The attacks have subsided thankfully due to the meds.

Just when i feel like im getting on top of it it comes back and kicks me in the knackers. Just got to keep picking yourself up.

Exercise helps and when you talk to people about it you see how common things are.

Im still working full time at the minute but its a struggle so might look at having reduced hours.

Part of my problem is that I really enjoy the work itself - it's intellectually and creatively stimulating - it's just the bullshit that comes along with it, and being paid about a third of the wage I should be getting for it.

Mistake Number 1, and something that techie sorts are notorious for. There's nobody easier for a company to abuse than somebody who enjoys the work - fuck them off asap, if you're doing the job you say you're doing (and I mean no disrespect by saying that) they are taking the piss and you are letting them do it, why?

Hand your notice in and go contracting!

this, but of course you're swapping it for stress caused by that poundshop vampire Osborne

No big company likes that, but stick to your principles, fuck them.

I would suggest you look elsewhere. 2 birds one stone. Should deal with your issues and also likely that you would get paid more.

Learn to deal with your stress, Diazepam is good in a very short term, you will get used to it and need more, they may not give it to you and it won't help in the end. Look straight at it and learn to deal with it go to You Tube, type in look for dealing with stress, it's what they'll tell you in the end. Find something worthwhile to do at home or away from work. If it's bullying/victimisation seek legal advice.

Join a gym, exercise will leave you relaxed, above all, if you don't know how to relax learn - you tube hypnosis for relaxation, it works and you will have to deal with it yourself in the end, trust me, I know.
