Wouldn't be Sunderland if people weren't complaining
Not happy unless they are moaning
f***ing unbelievable.

As I've said, we should have had the new arena. Bollocks to fuckin' Gateshead. How big Chris? Like Harry said anything bigger and we are competing against the academy then bigger again the metro arena (or its new name). And considering these are well oiled venues with a good reputation with both fans and bands and an already in place infrastructure, we would be fighting a losing battle.
I think they have it right tbf. Big enough to attract the better acts that wouldn’t mind playing Sunderland and small enough to hold local activities and civic gatherings. Then build from there. A bigger venue would be another addition imo built on the success of this venue and a totally different venture.
it's Noocazzles not GoatsheadAs I've said, we should have had the new arena. Bollocks to fuckin' Gateshead.
stop moaning or I'll get Dominic Cummings on to youf***ing unbelievable.
450 people capacity.Hardly pushing the boat out.A welcome addition but small time Sunderland as per usual.
Absolutely not surprised that someone pushed in with not only a negative, but extremely shit and cynical take for the first comment.
Newcastle has some good venues and it is a disgrace sunderland has nowt. The same people wanking over Newcastle for having some good venues would be the same ones saying it's a disgrace that Sunderland has nowt.
Newcastle has some good venues and it is a disgrace sunderland has nowt.
This new place seems ideal imho.
Hopefully it will have a broad remit and get loads of different stuff. It's smack bang in the town centre so people can't even twist about it being a 'pure mission' to get to along cobbled streets with their lass in her heels.
They have a PL club so why do we bother trying to get back there if one already in NE.Its ideal and a much bigger venue would not be of any use as the region has venues in Newcastle that cater for most tours and even then Newcastle is bypassed quite a lot.
Pleased to see work as started, but years in the planning?? how long does it take to plan the building of a square box?Work starting on new £11m music, comedy, theatre and events space in Sunderland city centre
Years in the planning, work is set to begin on Sunderland’s new Auditorium at the Fire Station in the coming days.www.sunderlandecho.com
Finally! Been waiting a while for this one.
Sunderland will finally have its own cultural and music venue. Massive addition to the city center and another pillar in what has been a completion transformation of the Minister/Keel Square area.
I agree mate, we've long needed a venue like this, the days of bands filling huge venues is fast fading, seems a nice size and my own personal view is that it's the best size venue to watch a band in.Newcastle has some good venues and it is a disgrace sunderland has nowt.
This new place seems ideal imho.
I would support anyone who wants to bring a new large venue to Sunderland. I wouldn't invest any money in it though. They have a PL club so why do we bother trying to get back there if one already in NE.
The sage ticket includes free metro to venue. The target here has to the acts that currently play the Gala in Durham and Sage 2. We go to both venues several times a year and it's a bloody pain and expensive. Bring it on!
Bet it will be called Newcastle/Gateshead Utilita Arena though.....The Vaux site should have been used to build a new 10,000-15,000 seater entertainment arena to replace the shambolic Metro/Utilita Ice Hockey pitch instead of it going to Gateshead.
