I mean to be fair its the only footy going on at the minute.
 

Giving the women's game this sort of platform is the only way to accelerate the growth trajectory seen over the past few years. The more visible the sport becomes, the more connected you become to the players, managers, rivalries, competitions.

I can't pretend I got the same buzz when England scored last night as I would if it was the men's team in a major tournament and it wasn't in the same stratosphere as when Sunderland score but those emotions are built on familiarity. If this gets more people involved in following the day to day of the women's game then the collective fanbase will be more invested and the game starts to naturally generate the crowds, atmosphere and income levels seen in the men's game.

It should be covered. Just not as prominently as it is. the obsession is putting it on a par with the men's game.

Times and tastes change - 50 years ago you couldn't move for showjumping on the BBC - hardly a mass participation sport then or now but it was on the Beeb virtually every night in the summer months in the 70's
We think nothing of watching women's tennis, skiing, athletics and many Olympic sports because they've always been televised - they don't compete across each other and in most cases the women's versions are equally supported by fans of those sports regardless
We're not yet used to Women's football, rugby, cricket etc etc because we have not had a great deal of exposure to them but that will change through time
I reckon in 2 or 3 generations time that women's sport will be almost as big as men's thanks to the exposure that they get now

It's getting greater importance because this is the biggest women's tournament in Europe. In general lower league football gets more coverage than the women's game.

the point is it's not just this tornament. Even on the normal fixtures page, WPL is listed above Leagues One and Two. Insult to the players and supporters.

And I have zero interest in it. Rather watch Thornley Officials v Shotton Comrades.

If it was of any quality it would grow organically.

This competition has shown it for how bad it is. Defensively they are shocking.

BBC are trying to ram it down our throat

Got no problem at all with it being on the telly on primetime BBC, in fact apart from the last 2 games I can't remember a recent time I watched the BBC apart from the news.
I just don't think we're at the stage yet where womens club transfers are given the same prominence as men's on the BBC radio bulletins. Only their mates or immediate family will be interested, and they probably already know.

Don't watch it then.

And how is it an insult to League One and Two players and supporters? The WSL is the highest level of the women's game. One website puts the their fixtures above lower league fixtures. It's probably because the BBC have the rights to the WSL.

Using your logic, the SPFL results and fixture should be read out before League One and Two. After all it's an insult to Scottish football players and supporters.
