Leeds are miles better than us at present.
They must be the one team in next season's PL who aren't. They are closer to us than the other 18 other clubs.

Not sure, think we are in for a bit of a reality check with the quality of the teams we are aiming to finish above. Hopefully we invest wisely
But we do find ourselves hoping an established club implodes. It's been you lot most years this season hoping Brentford or Bournemouth and this lot staying up. Being an Everton fan you haven't had to deal with relegation while us and Sunderland have been through the leagues. I make the most of every season. Seeing Neves Jota Neto Cuhna Moutinho wear the shirt makes it worth the stress every year.Realistically no fans think their team is going to be relegated before a season start. I was reading a Southampton forum last season and they were talking about having nowhere near the worst squad in the league and relishing the chance to relegate us in the last ever match at Goodison Park.
I don’t think they’re miles better and I think they might struggle to adapt more than we do with Regis and some decent recruitment. No doubting they’re a bit better but that can change very quickly.Leeds are miles better than us at present.
Over the last 5 seasons an average of 1 promoted team stays up. Admittedly the last 2 seasons have seen all 3 teams go straight down but it’s an exception rather than the norm (the season before all 3 stayed up!). It’ll be difficult but it’s far from impossible. The record for promoted clubs from the championship would beg to differ
We matched Burnley and Leeds last season. Obviously they will strengthen, but so will we.

Not over the course of the season we didn’t, they both finished 24 points ahead of us.
People reckon Burnley’s amazing defensive record got them up, but they also outscored us by 11 goals.
Just to catch them up will be a massive task.
Yes but 15 of them were when we were practicing for the play-offs!Not over the course of the season we didn’t, they both finished 24 points ahead of us.

I’m presuming he’s talking about the toe to toe with them, rather than over the season as a whole.
Even if everyone you mentioned happened they would still be level with us, if not still better.I’ve been trying to talk myself into us finishing 17th, we need the other two that came up to go down for that to happen, I think, or we need a combination of:
Wolves to keep asset stripping.
West Ham to continue as they have under Potter.
Brentford to lose Frank.
Extreme outside chance, Bournemouth don’t replace their sales well and lose their gaffer.
It’s going to be an extremely difficult season whatever happens, taking it down to the last few games would be progress from how it’s worked out the last couple of seasons.
Burnley certainly we match in the 2 games against them, but objectively we weren’t as good as them over the course of the season.

That is part of my worry with the youth policy, they will naturally have ups and downs as the season goes on, the downs will be ruthlessly exposed next season, I can’t help but think we’ve got a chance anyway, not sure why, gotta have some faith I suppose.
Even we can level the playing field with 3 or 4 (big ask), that gives us a chance, I’d have faith in RLB getting it more right than wrong in that scenario.
In fairness Brentford are losing a manager who has been there (in today’s terms) a very long time. It’s not inconceivable they drop off massively. Mbuemo going, Wissa possibly going too … yeah they’ll get big money and you’d expect them to recruit well but you never know, look at when Spurs sold Bale, most of the signings it funded were poor.We can finish above Brentford who finished tenth in the prem but no mention of Leeds who finished 2nd in the championship?
Make it make sense.
We plummeted in 2022 after two 7th top finishes. It may, but I reckon it’ll take more than 1 season for them to drop out. I’m sure they’ll bring in another decent coach and they’re gonna have a decent transfer kitty.
Not saying you, but there’s a tinge of arrogance in some of the comments on this thread. We’ve got a lot of ground to make up just to be level with Leeds.
