50 million for a player with one year left on his contract and nearly 30... What a return on their investment.
He hadn’t done a whole lot prior to Brentford and it’s starting to look like one of those players that fitted a club but won’t be anywhere near the same elsewhere. Being a striker for a team that gets 15k at home and is happy to be in the premier league doesn’t have the pressure of playing for weird club that thinks it belongs in the top four every season.

yes indeed it is.
The problem is the manager. Tactically inept. If they have Pep, im sure they'll be in CL position every season.
Aint my problem, im happy with the way sunderland are doing now.

I disagree. Howe is a decent coach, hes got a proven track record of building up teams to play beyond their means. Bournemouth for example, and Newcastle. (Though at newcastle hes had a boost up in terms of transfer budget!)

Problem is its clear he has a ceiling. Same as a lot of managers. There just comes a point where he cant take a team any further and Newcastle are seeing that now. Fans expect more, players expect more, owners expect more and he has no idea how to deliver.

Ive said it before but the problem with Newcastle is their signings are to massage their egos. £50m for Elanga. They could’ve got a similar player from Europe for around £20m.

Same with Ramsay. They paid the going rate for Woltemade but then expected him to play the same role as Isak. Completely different player.

Hate to say it but True Geordies video last week was 100% spot on.

Agree with everything but Woltemade. Stuttgart absolutely had their pants down and didn't even give them a kiss afterwards.

He's not worth even half what they paid for him and a quick check of his stats, much less a scouting trip, would reveal this.

Stuttgart got him for NOWT after he was struggling to get a game for Bremen's 1st XI. He has been playing in the German 2nd tier for most of his career, despite being involved for the national team through the youth set up to u21. He had one standout season at Stuttgart where he wasn't even their best player.

They also played massively to his strengths, he's not and never has been a #9 type striker, something which should've have been picked up on unless Beheaddie was planning to completely change his style and tactics to suit this. Shoehorning him in to try and replace a player who's whole game was completely different was doomed from the start.

Instead of being their talismanic, club record breaking fee, new legendary 'numba nein' (and his purple patch when he first arrived was worrisome) he's rapidly become a scapegoat and something of a target for division and judgemental opinions amongst their fans.

Fair point. I didn’t know about the history of his career. Ask suited the high press, running in behind. Woltemade can barely run. I do think he’ll score goals at the WC but in a completely different role to what Howe is using him in.

He's very good at linking play and holding the ball behind a CF or to feed wider players. It's not that he lacks pace, typically tall players they look leggy and languid. But he totally lacks the speed and energy needed to play "Eddie's Way".

I watch a fair bit Bundesliga so was quite surprised that he became a target for Newcastle. Screamed panic buy at the time and not a good fit for the mags. His brief spell at the start of the season quickly slowed once teams appeared to have got a look at him and since then Eddie has desperately tried to make him fit in elsewhere. It's clearly impacting his confidence and the orcs, at least some, are rightly or wrongly giving him shit.
