Pretending to write in mid air while asking for the bill in restaurants
I just knew you'd be a pinky pointerIsn't that the cup of tea please gesture?
Yip that's me tooActually, sometimes I just mouth the words "can I have the bill" whilst doing the mid air writing
The two fingers held in a V to signal you still have your arrow holding fingers intact hasn't changed despite us not using arrows for centuries.
Divers do the ok sign unless they have run out of air then they do I kind of dying mime.Logon or register to see this image
I know but no point spoiling a good lie. There's no real evidence to support that origin story when you actually look into it
That’s a surfing gesture
I miss the satisfying feeling of dialing a number on an old fashioned phone with a dial instead of buttons. You know the one. Thumb up, little finger out, mimicking a telephone handset.
We've not had a landline phone in our house for years now. But even when we did it was a small cordless one, similar to the old Nokia phones.
There's probably a generation of people early 20s or younger never used a phone connected with a cord.
The hand gesture to signal this with the thumb and little finger mimicks the shape of an old style phone.
What will the youth of today do in the future do to pretend being on the phone?
Hold their hand flat against their face?
Another great tradition dying out
