It’s in the modern day and age of social media that it has turned into the frenzy it is. Old boys are becoming absolute bed wetters.

Mags have just released a kit that is apparently unique to them. Despite the fact it has been copied from the kit template we used in League One with the kids cancer charity. Their training gear is red and white too. Barely blinked an eyelid. Bought it in its thousands and cracked on.

We’d have fallen apart at the very seams, blamed KLD and KS whilst threatening not to renew. We’d be booing the players as a result of the kit fume. There’d be talk of protest, so called fanzines calling the owners out of the club, RAWA meetings where 90% of the chatter would be out copied kits and training gear. Then we’d start pushing our frustrations elsewhere, so we’d be kicking off that we’ve not signed anyone outside of the transfer window, no concrete fixtures in Benidorm, haven’t bought a striker in two years, crying for a solid holding midfielder, Luke Onein would be getting shat on just for caring. Players performances dip, new managers don’t care because they’ve already been booed out the door.

Tell me why the fuck would you want to manage Sunderland when you’re coming into that? (All things that are currently happening bar the kit scenario)
Are you saying its the fans fault?

Fully agree. Despite what many of our blinkered fans think - managing Sunderland AFC is not the be all and end all for aspiring managers or even proven ones. It should be a proud moment for anyone to manage such a big club but from the outside in right now it’s not a hugely attractive proposition. A hugely reactive fan base who historically don’t have patience with managers (that’s a fact, not an opinion. Look at the numbers and how long managers last). For example, Michael Carrick would never have survived the 2 awful runs of form with Boro had he been managing here and went on the same run.
Before anyone comes along with the “fans fault” shite that’s not what I’m saying. We’re a hugely well supported football team and that can’t be taken for granted but the sooner people realise numbers don’t automatically equal good support the better. The atmosphere at home games is lacklustre at best and the ‘support’ on social media is an absolute embarrassment. Whilst the owners can do far better in certain areas we as fans can also do better.

Incorrect. You can easily share your opinion without sounding like a petulant toddler whether you support the ownership or not. Nobodies saying we should just lap up anything. Our owner literally had to make a statement about the head coach recruitment because of pressure from people kicking off. Did this happen the last time we went so long without a manager? No. Do other clubs give updates whilst they’re still in the process of recruiting? No.
Our fans are gaining a reputation and it’s not in small numbers either. The hoards that bombard the clubs social media with abusive messages, publicly insult people working for the club and tagging them in it are a big problem.

Concerns get voiced to the club via the meetings and it’s exactly how it should be. The people embarrassing themselves on social media are a hindrance to the club and it’s about time people started acting like adults in my opinion. People who have been at the club recently have publicly called out the negativity around the place and they’re not wrong. Are we where we want to be? No. Have the owners made bad decisions? Yes. I fully expected the transition from coming out of league 1 to take time and it’s exactly what it’s doing. The first season was brilliant but was never ever going to be sustained with the quality in the division the season after. Of course, it was far more disappointing than anyone expected but that does not warrant the way our fans are going on. Again, it’s all opinions but for me I just can’t understand how some are so deeply negative about absolutely everything.
Well said.

For some reason many of our fans have completely lost the plot since Xmas. We have fucked up as a club but we haven't lost out on promotion because of it which is surely our short term aim.

Tony Mowbray was not taking us into the play offs (not all his fault, we hadn't bought him a decent striker to work with for starters) but I didn't want him sacked. That was a mistake. We appointed Beale. The fans over the top reaction was ridiculous IMO which made his position untenable more or less straight away. All coaches / managers deserve a chance again IMO.

We fucked up the mags game but as soon as others decided by the rules of the competition that they could have 6K the club were were fucked anyway.

We sacked Beale and gave the caretaker job to Dodds, another mistake. However, with still no decent striker, which was even more ridiculous by the club and Clarke injured the season was already over in truth. In hindsight they should have given the job to Murty on a part time basis.

People repeatedly saying, we'll probably appoint Dodds is just being stupid and boring IMO.

We need a coach / manager but whoever they appoint we need to give the bloke a chance without the negativity and gloom that seems to be a lot of peoples go to stance at present.

🚨🚨fans fault🚨🚨

What a load of shite.

Fans fault
I’m sorry marra, but the current image of the club is more than a board room and 25 players.

I know it all comes from a good place though. It’s because people care.

Side by side comparison to two similar situations, remove kit fume for BCB and it’s factual from Christmas.

There’s no finger pointing, just think about what someone is walking into.

That’s a bit silly. Make competent appointments in the management team, win more often than not, play well and everything else isn’t as important so wouldn’t be brought to the fore. The Mags would have been in uproar about the the points you stated under Ashley in the context of his overall management, but they are now the richest club in the world and the future looks very bright so they aren’t as arsed. Shock horror.

Do you think the mag owners would have moved their own supporters to accommodate us and then decorate one of their bars in Sunderland colours?

Loyal fans have been shit on from a great height from this lot both on the pitch and the club’s shambolic infrastructure.
Mention of mags not complaining ??? How ironic. They would have burnt the club down had they endured our last 6/7 seasons.
Any decent manager would go a long way to helping. The fact that he’ll probably have his hands tied by his bosses is a bigger worry than a concerned fan base

So basically what you’re saying is that the things that are complained about are not important if we win a few games. That’s fickle at its finest.

Right, so let’s go back a step. They’ve got Ashley.

Imagine this place knowing that had happened and their fans reaction?

They’d look a bunch of mugs because there’d be bedsheets missing all owa wor city.

No, I don’t. You’re right.

Would they have still accommodated 6,000 fans and offered some form of hospitality? Yes. Because every club does it.

Are saying that from February 14th, a run of form that reads Won 2 Drawn 3 Lost 10 and would have meant certain relegation if the season had gone on much longer, is the fans fault?

You're talking absolute horseshit.

Most supporters of other clubs would have kicked right off if their club had basically wrote off half a season with the decisions our owner and his staff had made. Think the likes of Kld, Speakman and Davidson have got off lightly.

Are you just starting from a date that suits your narrative pal?

How about the 13th October instead?

you’re taking that quote far too literal, it’s a comparison. Stick BCB, ticket fume or owt else you fancy. It’s factual.

Apparently a manager would be more concerned about 40K frustrated fans than he would being a patsy to the board. Suppose a desperate manager with no balls might be

Well it's not factual is it.

Did players get booed because of the BCB = no
Have players been booed over ticket fume = no
Would players be booed over a kit = no
