I still think he’ll be playing next summer as they’ll fancy him for the pink ball test in Adelaide. And he was cracking in his last test in Cape Town.

I think the issue is going to be more how many games there will be over the next year or two than his fitness

I don’t think it’s beyond the realms of possibility that he could play in the 2023 Ashes at 40 (coming up 41). I know there’s little precedent for it but he’s so skillful and his stats still aren’t dipping.
Yeah, his average in the 2nd half of his career is mad.

My age point was never about performances. More that late 30s you get more niggles, and recovery times are longer
All of his interviews have suggested he’ll play as long as he can. Broad is the one who’s hinted at retiring, and I think he might be surplus to requirements first anyway.

ECB could do a lot worse than get him involved a a bowling coach. Maybe not for the test team, but certainly at a development level. Bring through the next generation of swing bowlers
