Will Jimmy go past Kumble?

Think he needs 35 to move to 3rd in all time list

38 this month. COVID may ruin the winter

think it may be tough...

Jeez, just thinking about it. Kumble, an absolutely legendary SPIN bowler, being overtaken by a seamer! It’s one hell of an achievement (if it happens).

Agreed. It reminds me of the first time I saw Kumble and it was on bbc and ted dexter was commentating and called him kumble as in bumble, rather than kumble as in kumblay

make sense? :D

I still think he’ll be playing next summer as they’ll fancy him for the pink ball test in Adelaide. And he was cracking in his last test in Cape Town.

So a confident yes for me if he stays fit.
I think the issue is going to be more how many games there will be over the next year or two than his fitness

That year he missed will cost him

He’s bowling 86/87 here

Just totally ignore his age and judge him on how he bowls

He will 100% be here next summer, why not?

Obsessed with age in the media like, it’s irrelevant

Agreed.

I don’t think it’s beyond the realms of possibility that he could play in the 2023 Ashes at 40 (coming up 41). I know there’s little precedent for it but he’s so skillful and his stats still aren’t dipping.

Yeah, his average in the 2nd half of his career is mad.

I remember journos saying we need to prepare for life without jimmy, was like 3 years ago

the reality is if he was fit last summer, we would have wiped the floor with the aussies.

Who knows if Jimmy himself may want to step away after this summer?
I think he'll fancy one last Ashes tour then bow out

ECB could do a lot worse than get him involved a a bowling coach. Maybe not for the test team, but certainly at a development level. Bring through the next generation of swing bowlers

After today its 33

I think he’s nailed on for the next two tests at old Trafford.

say he gets three second innings, 30. Manages 10 across the 2 at OT. 20 needed, Pakistan later on, 3 tests I think, he gets 12 all in across them

8 needed. That could be a single test away.
