WMS Who Owns Sunderland AFC?

If "it is widely accepted that Louis-Dreyfus bankrolled the signings of Ross Stewart and Carl Winchester", why does the author not "widely accept" that KLD is not the owner, what with him having 50% + 1 of the shares etc ?

It reads like a load of self indulgent crap, imo
because taken at face value the companies house statement indictes KLD does not have 50 plus 1 per cent of the shares..

Raises some important points amongst a lot of just waffling, it's amateur journalism though and to be expected. As long as it's cleared up at the meeting then it's fine surely?

Think Chris has done well in the past to ask questions so good to see he's continuing to do so. Took a lot of stick for it last time and was proven right in the long run.

Fwiw I've seen nothing to suggest that we haven't gone a different route than under past regimes or that KLD is not in control. I'd prefer it if Methven was nowhere near though, f***ing slimeball.

What may have happened with the confirmation statement is that the filing requirements have been misinterpreted. It's supposed to disclose changes in shareholdings up to the confirmation date; my suspicion is that it's reflecting the situation at the previous year end. A knowledge deficit was created when Angela Lowes left; I have been critical of her strategic capabilities, but on the technical nuts and bolts she was usually on the money.

So it should show one person with over 50% of the shares ?
if an idnividual owns more then yes..but the caveat is, they dondt have to show if another company does...
and in truth, Mercator, a company registered I think in leichenstein owns SAFC now...and KLD may own more than 50 per cent of that and so have control..but mercator dont file documents in the UK...

Chris
Stick to running pubs
Thought this was sort of stuff The Mag would do
Remember when he was raising issues previously? This is how he was treated then . He was right
What I think we'll find tomorrow is that the club is owned 100% by Mercator, and that Mercator has KLD, Sartori, Donald and Methven as shareholders.

No, it should have disclosed who now held the shares in Sunderland, since it obviously wasn't Madrox anymore.
Are there any benefits to them for us not knowing how much each holds ? I’m trying to understand why they wouldn’t want us to know

So long as KLD has more 50%+1 of the shares in Sunderland, or in any entity which owns 100% of Sunderland (equally plausible), he has full control of any appointments to, or dismissals from the boards of Sunderland and all its subsidiaries.

The directors of Sunderland are KLD, Igor Levin and Patrick Treuer.

The directors of SAFC are the three above plus MLD, Steve Davison, Juan Sartori, Simon Vambuca, and Dave Jones.

Of those, only Vambuca is thought to represent the interests of Donald and Methven.

It's thus clear that KLD has total control, in management terms, of the strategic direction of the club by a simple majority of the boards being his appointees.

Yes, the confirmation statement is wrong, and that's a consequence of having no-one in place with a proper handle on company secretarial requirements. Hardly a hanging offence.

in your view are you fairly comfortable with it all GoM or do you have some nagging doubts. The tone of the article is certainly pretty downbeat would you say rightly so or nowt to see here kind of thing?
