Whisky

not touching owt till Feb....have consoled myself by buying Balblair 12 earlier

Amazon got it for £33 which is as cheap as ever seen it 🥃
Cheers for the tip on Balblair, just ordered myself one.

I did the distillery tour there last year. I got myself a hand-poured bottle from the cask. You got to pour and label it yourself, felt like a youngster spending all his holiday money in the one shop.

Edit to say PS much better than the Glenmorangie tour just down the road in Tain. They were a bit tight in the tasting room.

Nearly bought a bottle today in Asda but didn’t as have still got Xmas and birthday presents left.

Wish I had done now, it’s not as if if goes off 😠. Also, the size of some posters collections on here suggests to me it is more than acceptable to build up a handy sized drinks cabinet 😉
My thoughts, exactly.

I know loads on here don't like The Scotch, but are there any whisky lovers out there?

I'm partial to Ardbeg, but have a taste for most of it to be fair.

What's your New Year dram of choice?
I've been into it for 18 years.

I seem to have a surfeit of Talisker atm.

Looking to do that myself in Islay..Certainly Bunnahabhain allow you to do it, as do Lagavulin ( I think)

Not cheap but certainly a one off and something to remember 👍

Meaning to get the Talisker 57° north at some point, I've tried it before and it's about as smoky as you'll ever get.

Glen Scotia is nice, but a little difficult to find.

Laphroaig is excellent value for money as mentioned.

I have one , its a really easy drinking drop, quite fresh and fruity

I bought it at the same time as a Tobermory 12 which is in my opinion a much more interesting dram, much more complex and full flavoured. its one of my new favourites I think, I am looking forward to my distillery trip later in the year to see if they have any distillery exclusives there

Have had their Ledaig which I really enjoyed 👍

Still £20 in asda so auchentoshan has joined the collection. Wont be drinking whisky till sunday so will give it a shot then.
I've just got a bottle as well and will be sampling tonight. Laphroaig on offer in both Sainsbury's and Morrisons (slightly cheaper IIRC) with Bowmore also on offer here.

Tobermory 12 is also one of my favoured malts and I finished my bottle over Christmas.

Talisker's my favourite, though no doubt it was part due to my da letting me have a nip or two over Christmas and Hogmanay when I was a teenager, as it was his favourite too.

I have a bottle of Glenfarclas 42 year old 1959. Bought for long term investment purposes years and years ago for around £300. I haven't checked it's current value but I know it was up above the thousand quid mark a while back.
