Whisky

Had a couple of nice ones recommended on here, like this Compass Box Orchard House : The Whisky Exchange
Drink loads of blended malts.

There are loads of new blended scotches about nowadays that are a world away from Bells etc

Thompson Bros, North star, mcleans nose etc

NS Sirius was one of the nicest I've had, the NS edrington sherry bomb was a belter too
Polished a bottle of this yesterday, lovely stuff. Only really like bourbons and this was probably the nicest I have had so far. Got a bottle of Jack Daniels, Jack Daniels Honey and Jim Beam Black cherry to get through as well

If you like that try the MM 46, cracking

Seems a Never had the distillers edition but the standard 12 is a tasty dram
Is a big discount…at 46% I might have went for it
Just noticed Angus from Whiskyfun has given his highest ever mark ( unsurprisingly an old Laphroaig)

Thread has gone a little quiet so a gentle bump.
A belated happy new year to all the whisky geeks 👍
A shout out for canny customer service.

ordered an Indy Jura from Aberdeen Whisky shop. They rang shortly after and said sorry but bottle wasn't in stock. They gave alternatives that I could swap with and chose one( having decided I didn't want a refund)

When it arrived the next day they'd added a tasting flight of 5 drams. All were/are pretty decent by looks of it, for example 32 yr old Aultmore, 27 yr old Girvan etc

👍

Eagle Rare 12 is available to order pre order at Royal Mile for any bourbon fans out there. TWE had it in but sold out .
Hopefully starting to see the more hard to get stuff ( Wellers / Stagg ) become available in the uk at msrp prices or close to.

Some interesting new releases from Phil & Simon Thompson.
11yo Bowmore @ £70
8yo Laphroaig @ £50
12yo Clynelish @ £70

I've ordered the Bowmore as don't get much of it from Indies. Very tempted with the Clynelish but have quite a few Clynelish already in the stash, may end up going back for it though as I've put the Bowmore into 'store' for now.

Treated myself to a Royal Salute 21 year for Christmas. It had been gathering dust on the top shelf of my local convenience store so I thought….what the hell!
I was surprised at price, £199, but still bought it although I could have got it cheaper if l’d shopped around.
I was going to save it for a Burns Night sip but I didn’t.
Quite acceptable but nothing special, for the price. 👍🥃

Yikes

More than my self imposed budget but not really my thing regardless
