Whisky

Bought a few "Stocking Filler" 13yo as gifts from Royal Mile Whiskies and bought myself the 20cl bottle to get over the free shipping threshold.

Its absolutely not a traditional Christmas Whisky. The nose is awful and reminds me of tequila. The palate is pleasant but completely unmemorable (caramel, werthers original, fudge, bit of salt - a bog standard Speyside affair really). Mouthfeel is good with a nice coating and lots of oil. Overall quite a disappointment and completely not to my taste. Hopefully the recipients enjoy it more than I have. I can see why this was passed up by the distillery and the major indy bottlers.

Ill stick to my collection of sherry bombs and deeply offensive Islay malts. Glad I tested it out now before heading off to the inlaws. Ill take something else with me instead.

Yeah got the 10. Will probably get another bottle after Christmas. Fancy the Raasay cask strength.
If you enjoy Arran, I'd take a look at the Quarter and Sherry Cask on the Amazon link I posted. Both excellent and great value at the price.

Just ordered an EH Taylor Small batch bourbon £45 with my free delivery
Makes some of the signatory bottles, which are good value normally seem ridiculous.
Their cask strength “ decanter” range are in some cases stupidly good value ( I know vast majority sherry and wine cask but still worth a look)

Polished a bottle of this yesterday, lovely stuff. Only really like bourbons and this was probably the nicest I have had so far. Got a bottle of Jack Daniels, Jack Daniels Honey and Jim Beam Black cherry to get through as well
