Whisky

Happy to pop a sample of the Tullibardene through your door mate. Just PM me if you want one
Very generous of you thanks, but I'm in same boat as Old Prestonian. I've got 6 ready to ship from Whiskybroker, including this and the Arran 18. Would be interested in your thoughts about it though?

I also went for the Tullibardine 18 (17) bottle they sold through SWA for £50, still to open it.

I bought it at the NEWAS indie fest mate. Asked Martin to pour me the best bourbon cask he had and that’s what I got. Thought it was the best dram I had all day though you do get a bit of taste fatigue at those festivals

I've just been tempted in by the latest NSS Obscurities (near Ballindalloch) offering and got a bottle of the Macduff from the same range whilst I was there. This range seems pretty good value. Obviously, the older bottlings are a touch out of my league.

Aye just had a look following e mail…tempted

on an aside Ive a success rate of 11 from 20 in semi blind advent calendar. Not that an achievement when you eliminate options as you go and have a list to pair to.

Might make it a bit harder next year 👍

Got a bottle of the obscurities and a bottle of the linkwood 17, after recommendation from @Cee Jay, in my basket debating wether to pull the trigger as promised myself I wouldn't buy anything for a while 🫣

Quite a bit of stock on their site. Seems to have had an upgrade.
Keep saying not buying owt for a bit mind.

Could use some advice for a smokey/peaty single malt in the region of up to £50.

Probably get pelters for this but I love Smokehead and Laphraig.
Lagavulin mate, my whisky of choice. Pricey though. Talisker's nice too. Cheaper but not quite in the same league IMHO.
Do any of you experts on whisky have any advice on the effects of heart burn ?
Suffering lately. 😖
Buy better whisky. If that doesn't work, take more water with it and always remember, you only add two things to whisky - water and more whisky!

I buy my old man a bottle of Islay malt for his birthday every year, his go to is Laphroaig but this year i got Port Charlotte 10 year old which he loved.

Also had, Caol Ila, Bunnahabhain and a few others.
👍

Cheers, had the Bunnahabhain before, not to my taste, I'll try the Port Charlotte though, thanks
Me being all sophisticated while chucking Johnny Walker red down my neck (was a gift though and very much appreciated)

My old man didn't like the Bunnahabhain Stiuireadair either, not enough peat apparently.

It was cheap so i bought him a bottle of Tovess as well which was grouse price but he liked it.

Yeah, it wasn't peaty enough for me, it's a nice whiskey though and would still happily drink it.
It's a great blended whiskey, I couldn't afford to drink it on a school night though.

Some other possibilities - Ardbeg 10, Kichoman Machir Bay or Sanaig, Ledaig 10, Caol Ila 12 (or any number of IBs), Kilkerran Heavily Peated, Longrow Peated, Springbank 10, Campbeltown Loch, Benromach Peat Smoke, Big Peat, Rock Island (rebranded from Rock Oyster)

Lagvulian 8 available at Tesco for £52 if you have a club card it's £42 .
Have had the 16 year which is nice but that's anywhere from £67 to £80.

As mentioned above the Port Charlotte 10 Heavily peated is a good buy around the £50 mark

Ledaig 10 about £42 is good
