Born Sunderland 1980 but mam and dad moved my sister and i to Coleshill, Warwickshire in 1987.
I've never been anything other than red and white through and through despite losing my accent before the 80's were out. Mam (I call her mum now, sorry don't hate me) and dad still have accents although they've softened some what over the years and our remaining family in Sunderland think they talk posh.
I have 4 kids of my own now, 2 girls 8&1 and 2 boys 6&3. I'm trying to bring them up Sunderland but it's not easy when they have little connection to the place. 8 and 3 are Sunderland daft but my 6 year old wants to be Birmingham like all his cousins down here, I blame my sister for defecting to her husbands team and letting him bring her boys up Blues uncontested. Plus my wife's sisters lot are all blues too.
My dad and i took my eldest to her 1st game this season at Walsall (league) and she loved it. Was a special moment 3 generations of Sunderland fans, don't know who was more proud me or dad.

Durham > Doggy (West Cornforth) > Roker > East Finchley > Islington > Finsbury Park > Crouch End > Copenhagen.

Fuckin hell, doggy wood. Years since I’ve heard that place mentioned.me Dad went to school
In Cornforth. He used to call it “Cornforth Acadamy” long before academies were all the rage.

That's nearly in Sooth Sheels I thought that you had your own club to follow now.
But not sooth shields and as I said it's in sr6 and 90% Sunderland

To be honest I am not too happy that folk who live south of the river Wear are allowed in. SAFC has always played North of the river apart from a couple of years when they played in Hendon. Well no surprise that didn't last very long.

Born in Birkenhead as Da was working in Liverpool. Da from Queen Alexandra Rd, Ma from Southwick. Family returned to Sunderland when I was aged 4. Lived in Cairns Square Fulwell, then Whitburn for 53 years, now Seaburn Dene.

Proud Mackem.

Does it matter if you are from Sunderland or not ? I live in Sunderland , support Sunderland and have a season ticket but I am not from Sunderland. Does that make me a mag cockney Manc etc ? Certain people on here obviously think to be one of us requires you to speak a certain way !!? BOLLOX !
Just saying .

Nottingham, sunderland through and through. My dad is his dad is and my kids will be too!

Hate the name - haven't always hated it cos never heard it for the first few decades of my life.
First time i heard the term was when i was registering my sons birth in 1984 birth at alnwick registry...fella said i see your a mackem ..i nodded but thought wtf .........dont mind it now as i see it as a badge of honour to remember my long line of now dead shipbuilders in my family....nothing to do with safc though!as sadly many mackems support newcastle and many proud geordies support sunderlamd!

I ran the gauntlet in the 80’s on the supporters bus from Ashington. Seen us at our best and worst so I feel I’ve earned my life sentence even tho I live in St Albans now...
