Born Kingston upon Thames. Whole family from Ryhope. Moved to whitburn in 84 supported the lads since then. Now live in Norfolk. I know i,m not a true Mackem but i'm a close second. ;)
I have never considered myself as a ‘Mackem’.

I know that it’s used as a generic term for an SAFC fan to differentiate from Newcastle ‘geordies’ but it doesn’t work for me. Loads of geordies support safc for starters, and I’m not a Sunderland shipyard worker.

Born in Sunderland ,left when twelve ,teenage years around Seahouses.........now doing missionry work with the unwashed in north shiels , Father was a northumbrian , Mother could trace her surname back to 7th century sunderland area.Sunderlnd support is a broad churh and i welcoe all.........but i was born in sunderland and in those days you ever really thought about supporting anyone else, lthouh i did like man city but suderland was always my team ...........there were kids at school who supported man u but ty were staired at like the scene from body snatchers or the way a mag stars at a bar of soap!

Don't understand why folk without some sort of family connection would choose to support sunderland ...but i welcome them all!

Some of our supporters in the London branch (born dairn sarff) are just as passionate as many from up here. Even if Cam own yew Cants sounds a bit strange to the Northern Ear.

exscuse me lord Potts sir but I'm from whitburn sr6 what would happen to me
That's nearly in Sooth Sheels I thought that you had your own club to follow now.

So half the ground would be empty
To be honest I am not too happy that folk who live south of the river Wear are allowed in. SAFC has always played North of the river apart from a couple of years when they played in Hendon. Well no surprise that didn't last very long.
