Yes but that was 13 years ago. Done nothing since. Shearer played in 2 major tournaments, and got something in region of 10 goals. Rooney has played Euro 2004, 2008, 2012, 2016 and World Cup 2006, 2010 and 2014 and scored 7 goals in competitive tournaments - 4 of those in 2004.

That's shockingly bad for our supposed best striker of a generation.
