What was your expectations when McMenemy first took charge?

Couldn’t believe we’d got him and could see his approach in building a team with journeymen players like he’d done at Southampton..honestly thought back then we’d be straight up and top half of Division One regulars..kept his word though..said he’d get us out of the 2nd Division.
 

Very high when he was first mentioned as coming, but after a few games it was very clear that he was not the saviour we'd needed & hoped for when we saw his signings play.

Or so we thought . I was ecstatic. I thought it was proof that we'd never be small -time again . I believed that lying bastard Cowie when he said he'd provide a £7,000,000 transfer kitty . It was much nearer £7 . We've never recovered from Cowies tenure . The deluded gobshite's proud boast was that the team may have let us down but he would always be proud of the ground improvements . Did he mean knocking down the Roker end ? I wonder how much he made out of that .

Can remember when the Tory twat said he wished he'd had Newcastle's fans.
 
I thought we’d win the league easily,think we lost the first 4 games without scoring a goal then we were losing to Grimsby at Roker , I’ve never heard booing like it just before Swindlehurst scored on the stroke of half time then we conceded straight from the restart! Finished 3-3. I was a teenager then and it still took another couple of months before I could admit Mackemenemy was shite.
