What a twat

Don Hutchinson..the color commentator on the international link, at least..was decent. At the end of the game said lots of people just don't understand how good a lot of the Sunderland players are.
Agree Hutchinson was very balanced on my feed . Not keen on Goal Rush ,as they leave the match straight after and you don't get the interviews and man of match.
Started an hour earlier than the game today and you wouldn't have known we were playing ,or had a chance at Europe . Very little rematch coverage ,all about Spurs . In fact the game got very little build up ,concentrating on the Chelsea/Man C.game which wasn't going to start for another 3 hours.

1 million percent this...we have managed to sign a lot of players who should be playing for better clubs than us, and still people, especially the mags, don't realise this.

We're a lot better than what people think...and the mags are not as good as what they think they are, simple as that.

I remember when he was up and coming and they did a special on him on Footy Focus, when it finished the camera was on Lawrenson and he just launched into a rant on how stupid some footballers are and how they really needed to look at academy players not being given more rounded education. This was before such standards were mandated in the EPPP thing.
Haha what did he say to get that reaction? Would love to see that footage.

It was a short day in the life kind of piece and he was clearly really really dull. It seemed to outrage Lawrenson but back then kids were put in academies and not mandated to keep good academics. Lawrenson was saying that Owen clearly needed more intellectual stimulation 🤭

Seems harsh but hilarious.

Michael Owen is wrong. Our central midfield is far better and has far more graft in them than theres and therein lies spuds' problem. Having a proper midfield gives any team a chance to do ok over a season.
nailed it. I wish someone could tell this to the Guardian match report comments section. The arrogance on there was off the charts magesque. I would have ploughed in but comments are now closed. Spurs after spurs fan with Sunderland are 'mediocre', 'woeful', atrocious.....was just mind boggling to me. We are alright and particularly our midfield is doing great work to grind out results.
Fuck 'em. he's a bell end, celebrating goals against kids like he's just scored a winner in the world cup final.

I've heard Owen defend this moment, saying the producers were asking him to celebrate the goals.......possibly true. I still think he's a boring knobhead mind.

Wow next news man invents wheel. Always been a twat, it tends to be a common theme in ex liverpool players who are commentators
