We've signed a bowler...

It’s the main reason I follow Durham, local talent.

Me as well. I’m just concerned that having got to where we are in the CC, we don’t want to risk losing momentum. It’s worrying enough as it is with some of the recent T20 results affecting confidence, and player fatigue as identified by Alex Lees and others on here.

Still have v fond memories of the team from when we last won a trophy at Lords in 2014 - all home grown just about. Also still have nightmares about Jeetan Patel from that game, mind 😂

Fantastic day that like

Some talent in that team wasn’t there

Craig Miles from Warwickshire

Robert’s young’un?
Fair but kind of think loan system makes mockery of league

I get where you’re coming from, I’d be pissed off if I was a Glamorgan fan and this guy comes in and takes wickets - especially when you’ve travelled up with your own injury concerns and expecting to get a bit of respite in facing a depleted opposition bowling corps.

BUT, in this instance, when two of our seamers are away with England and another three (one of them an international) are injured, I think we can be excused for doing this.

The other obvious debate is the one about local talent, but I’ll say what I always say in this instance - I completely stand by our record of producing homegrown local talent and giving them opportunities to play.
My own view is loans should have to be a minimum period, much longer than 2 games

It’s a nice idea in theory, but clubs would just get around it by not picking the player 🤷‍♂️
I get it mate. But even if we win tomorrow I don’t agree with it

Not going to complain about it after this thread mind, I just think we have some very talented bowlers and this is an opportunity to play one. It’s the main reason I follow Durham, local talent.

We probably will play one, but the club understandably didn’t want to have to throw two fresh young seamers in at the deep end.

Who would you bring in, out of interest?

I accept the point about Potts n Carse like. Especially not central contracted

I don’t think we will play one will we? Thought it be miles, glover, raine and Patel

I’d play Stan if he was fit then Robinson or Killeen if not,

Basically I don’t think we should play Miles AND Glover. I don’t think that’s too big of an ask personally

As my Warwickshire member mate says wow at last we have got rid. But when he plays who can I boo and blame now he has left. Most hated signing at Warwickshire for the last 20 years.

Good luck.

Bizarre given he's experienced and has decent stats. On paper he looks a very credible loan signing for us

"
When he left Gloucestershire he had taken 255 first-class wickets at 26.68 (56 in his final season, including a five-for against Warwickshire as they marched towards the Division Two title), but it was as a batsman where he managed to provide a winning farewell, dancing down the pitch to strike the winning blow in an angsty two-wicket win against Derbyshire.

In 2021, Miles played a key role in Warwickshire's County Championship and Bob Willis Trophy double, taking 37 wickets at 21.81 in the former triumph, before picking up a first-innings five-for in the innings victory over Lancashire at Lord's.

In 2022, he was limited to 11 wickets in seven first-class appearances but had an impressive white-ball campaign, claiming a career-best haul of 16 wickets in the T20 Blast."

Raine, Miles, De Leede and A N Other would be my guess of the seam quartet.

Would like to see Stanley Mac given the nod. I don’t think Glover will be in contention, but I think the concern if we hadn’t signed Miles would’ve been that the likes of Robinson and Killeen aren’t quite ready for four day cricket just yet.

He's only here on a 2 game loan. Signed a 2 year extension on his Warwickshire contract last October.

Stanley Mac not in the CLS team for today.....

No glover you were right

Tbf I was basing it on him playing

Even a stranger signing if he can’t get in the side now

Happy enough now

14 man squad.
The lad has 334 first class wickets at 27.92 surely it’s a good thing. I am all for blooding youngsters but surely promotion is the primary goal.

Agreed. Plus, we do more than alright with blooding youngsters anyway.

I think Miles is a decent enough loan signing. Plenty of experience. As I've said a few times now, there's an intent at the club now that didn't exist for a while after the relegation/sanctions. We are no longer going to make do, it seems. We are a county that should be a div 1 stalwart, so I like it that management suddenly appear serious about doing whatever is needed to get us back there
