West Ham Pickford / Adrian Swap

Well Payet, Ogbonna & Byram all chose West Ham over Everton so perhaps not as clear cut as you make out.

A bit different that's when we had Martinez as manager, sat in the bottom half with a penniless owner in charge.

Now we have probably the best manager outside the top 6 with a billionaire owner sat in 7th miles ahead of 8th+. West Ham have finished above us once in about 2 decades.

Everton are a miles bigger club than West Ham yer berk

Not saying they aren't but being in London and being able to throw big wages at players means more these days to players than who won things in the past, before they were born. Yer berk.

Everton have a multi billionaire owner.

And West Ham is a shithole.

The world record fee for a keeper is 40m Euros which is £34m so we're splitting hairs. £30m for Pickford is clearly a ridiculous fee. He's had one season, and done well, but he's not a Gianluigi Buffon yet
He doesn't have to be in his league. £30m this summer is about £8m in the same era Buffon went for the record. Transfer feess have had a ridiculous rise over the years.

I know the Sun but reckon 17million plus Adrian swap. Still don't think it's worth it.

Please, no more of these players coming to Sunderland as 'a drop down' then sulking for months.

Mannone is good enough and I'd be happier signing a good young lower league keeper who sees us as an opportunity.

Adrian isn't worth what they're asking and we wouldn't be looking to sign him if it wasn't for Pickford.

NO NO NO NO NO.

We can sell enough other turds to finance the championship, Pickford will still fetch the same money next year (will still have another 2 years on his deal) and won't be on a stupid wage. Unless someone offers stupid money they can royally fuck off.

Signed a 5 year deal last year didnt he, under big sam?

That is untrue. He had a couple of mad moments at the start of the season and was dropped, but after coming back West Ham saved their season. He is a quality goalkeeper. Has made some of the best saved this season. If this is true (probably not) it is a very very good deal for you. Even though you would lose Pickford you would still by far have the leagues best goalkeeper.
Go back to your porn and govt corruption mr Gold..

With that back 4 and midfield 3 in front of you, you're going to be peppered and make the occasional mistake. What we don't know with Pickford is how good his concentration is. The really top top keepers do nothing all game but then need to make that game winning save in the last few minutes and as we know Pickford certainly hasn't had that experience yet.

He wouldn't be a world record and £30m is on par with the £10m we got for Mignolet all those years back the way inflation has gone in football.
agree there you arny have to look at daft fees bournemouth payed for the kid from liverpool , its gone daft now , and tbf how much would we have to pay to get a decent keeper nowadays to replace him

Here we go. The 'not good enough for Sunderland brigade' are out.

Adrian not good enough for Sunderland in the second division? Deluded fickwuts

Adrian is nee where near as bad as some are making out in this thread, If Pickford was to go he would be a cracking number one for us in the Championship.
Whilst that is true, the idea that we would allocate £8m of our precious summer transfer budget on a f***ing goalkeeper is ludicrous.

Paying the wages he would demand is no longer good enough for Sunderland.
I don't want Adrian unless he accepts a championship wage. And why would he do that?

He'd earn £20k a week less than Rodwell on his current wage.

This is not an argument. More a reinforcement of the statement I made. No more Rodwell type deals.
We need a decent keeper in the Championship. We can't fill an entire side with prospects from the Scottish second division.
