We're after Daryl Murphy according to Chronicle

Bring him home if it means Moyes gets the sack
This seems a common concept on here lately; so as long as we spunk money on players youz clearly don't like, it's perfectly acceptable to sack him?

Because the last thing we need is to spend 50 million to get promoted to then spend another £70 to compete in the prem. It would finish the club
Newcastle bought promotion, and like you say, that squad will be ripped up and starting a fresh by majority.

And staying in the Championship is going to work wonders?
Nufc got lucky to get back up, but that doesn't guarantee survival with mass changes in personnel I'm sure they'll make again.

A few years in the wilderness of the Championship is more likely to finish the club off. We basically survive on tv revenue because the club generates very little income from elsewhere and tv revenue is peanuts in the Championship. I'd take Murphy for a couple of million. Proven goalscorer at this level, 20 odd goals a season for Ipswich and 6 in 8 starts for the mags. Obviously we won't have the luxury of spending £50m so it's the likes of him we need to be looking at.

The exact type of signing we need to move away from
He's the sort of signing we are going to have to accept though too, he's a solid championship scorer, forget we saw the worst of him when he was a young lad here if you looked at his record in the past five or so years in the championship he would look a decent short term signing for cheap.

Why would you not want to follow Newcastle's footsteps?
Back to the premier league yes, but If it meant ending up like the vast majority of your support I'd rather stay in the championship.

He'll need replacing soon regardless because of age. It's a massive no from me.

We always get mentioned in connection with this type of player because their agents circulate rumours about the "fantastic " demand that their client is in. Obviously with Murphey being a crap player the suggestion that we might buy him is believable although not likely. We will be linked with a whole list of these idiots who are renewing their contracts at their clubs at the end of this season.

Talk about cutting off your nose to spite your face.

Murphy was brilliant for us last season and has a great record in the Championship recently. He may have been shite for you 10 years ago but he's clearly learned to play to his strengths. He's a big lump and is about as mobile as a fridge but he's positionally very good and can finish.

Everyone saying "nah" and "fuck off" etc, have you any other suggestions? Who do you see as a realistic target given your likely budget?
