Weetabix with butter on

Sugar sarnies?! Dear me.

Have heard of 'em like.

I remember one of our Primary School Teachers used to provide banana sarnies for school trips for the bairns with nee packed lunch. Niver had one mesell.

You've never had a banana sandwich? not sure how this is possible tbh. Staple food of any child.

And...I used to put extra scoops of sugar in my pop and give it a stir! I don't know how I still have any teeth!!

My worst however, looking back, was that when I was a kid, I would spit into my bowl of ice cream and mix it dead fast with a spoon to make it all gloopy before eating it! Total and utter tramp!!

I used to put sugar in my pop when I was little, I didn't like the fizz and by putting sugar in it took out the fizz and made 'still' pop.

I also used to spend ages mixing ice cream until it melted into a milk shake type consistency then drink it out of the bowl.

Did you ever have cornflake sarnies Pip?

Love it!!! I've never met any others who did those things! Thank god I'm not the only sick freak amongst us

We got into a discussion in my pub recently and I mentioned I liked to eat Weetabix with butter on as a kid. Somebody else said they made crisp sandwiches. Did anyone else here do this?

Aye, my brother got me into it. Shouldn't work but does.

I used to do that as well.

Na. Cheese slice and lettuce sarnies were my fave as a bairn. I used to have to squash them down like on the Kraft advert anarl. Like this, but without the ham...

I wasn't overly keen on ham as a young 'un for some reason. :-?

 Class dein that.

edit: I've just decided, I'm having a cheese slice and lettuce sarnie as soon as I get in from work this arvo. 8-)

You really should try both of them. I don't have sugar sandwiches anymore but I still have banana ones. They're both lush!

 I definitely will not be trying a sugar sarnie. Probably won't bother with a banana sarnie any time soon neither. Though I do like bananas, and sarnies are amongst my most favouritest of things.

 hope the tooth fairy sorted you out

I once tried to con the tooth fairy by putting one of my dogs teeth under my pillow.

I thought I would get a fortune cos it was git big compared to mine, but when I looked the next day, it had left me a dog biscuit. The bastard.

 your parents are class if that's true

Just so it's clear, when people talk of "sugar sandwiches", they're literally putting normal cane sugar (like what you put in your tea) in between two slices of bread? This is actually happening out there?

Yeah! You butter the bread, sprinkle spoons on sugar on, then pick it up so whatever sticks to the butter you keep, and the rest falls back in the pot! Close the bread. Eat! Lovely! :-)

Haha exactly the way my fatha showed me.

He also used to mix up butter and sugar in a saucer and feed it to me when I was ill - sore throat / cough etc, it always seemed to do the trick and I would go off to sleep.

Another Shields trick, or did others get this?
