This is true. Lasses' eyes are probably the only facial feature that you can see of the female visage when they are wearing a mask.
Of course you can still appreciate beautiful hair curvy figures and lovely legs.
So if all "boys and girls" and "men and women" are cruising in the pub looking for attractive partners/one-nighters, how will they feel when the mask comes off to reveal terrible acne, bad teeth and a bent nose?? Or this is unforgivably superficial?? Personally I go for the intellect

You won’t create any such thing. They don’t fit well enough. They are only there to stop you spewing out some of the filth you may expel and to create an illusion of safety.

Have a look at the masks they wear at Porton Down - they do keep stuff out.

A folded bit of paper does nothing.
