Anyone read this?
Watching Cricket on the Radio
Book written by a chap who listens religiously to the BBC’s county cricket coverage. He’s a regular tweeter to Marty on Durham games and the concept of the book atleast sounds hilarious.
The BBC’s service of course is phenomenal and fills a huge void for so many of us who can’t get to as many county cricket games as we’d like to.
Been reading quite a lot these last few weeks and realised that one has so far evaded me so I’ve bought a copy and will hopefully read through it in the next few weeks.
Not sure what the exact concept will be of course but I’ve spent a bit of time lately reminiscing with a couple of friends about the early days of Durham and of my junior membership days. Recently (finally) got round to reading Five Trophies and a Funeral so am having a real walk down memory lane. If I was proposing a book on my experiences from that time I’d plagiarise Dan’s title a touch and call mine ‘Watching Cricket on Teletext’
Remember sitting in my bedroom during the summer holidays staring at Durham scorecards waiting for any changes. Yes, I know I’m sad
