It’s ok I won’t out that you’re a vegan and not a macho meat muncher.I hope they’re shit
I've dabbled with vegetarianism for nearly 30 yor.
I'm finally considering the next step of at least partial veganism.
II'd like to ask:
What benefits have you noticed?
What downsides have you seen?
The single biggest challenge?
Do you check beers and that ?
Vegan cheese and vegan bacon is the work of the devil. Vile stuff.I hope they’re shit
I have lost weight and don't get the feeling I want to cram food down my gob. I'm slimmer and fitter but that might be because I've ran a lot during lockdowns. I just feel better.
I haven't seen many downsides. It is more time consuming but not a lot. Going out for a meal is a pain at times because the food they serve in your average restaurant isn't great but I'm out for the company. Also, this year has been great because the chances to go out have been limited.
I haven't seen it as a challenge either. I wanted to cut out temptation to eat crap and the challenge was to avoid it. Going vegan has made me avoid it. Problem is that big business is starting to make loads of vegan junk food
Fanx.
I've yet to find a substitute for milk in tea.
I drink Earl Grey and Green tea occasionally but love a good old one British style tea with milk.
Everything I've tried ruins the cuppa
oat milk is the best. Alpro or Oatly but I use Alpro (there are always deals on)Fanx.

My cuppa is supposed to be excellent. Never had it.Threads going as well as expected.
Got a chilli in the slow cooker that smells class ready for bait tonight. Will do for burritos tomorrow as well.
I don't drink tea or have milk in my coffee, but have you tried that Alpro - My Cuppa? Apparently it's been designed specifically for that purpose and doesn't split with the heat.

Be good to hear recipes like if anyone's got some tried and tested favourites?
I like this Meera Sodha one Meera Sodha’s vegan recipe for leeks, saffron and haricot beans
No intention of going vegan / veggie as a full-on label, but naturally only eat meat 2-3 times a week anyway, so do like a good spread of options.
I’ve finally managed to make a vegan chilli which makes me not miss the meat version, only gets better with age too
She has some great recipes. The sprout nasi goreng is tremendous, would recommend that.
Vegan chilli tastes miles better than con carne. Id choose it everytime. And I love meat.I’ve finally managed to make a vegan chilli which makes me not miss the meat version, only gets better with age too

The Bosh lads do a very good chilli. In general all their stuff is great but quite time consuming. Couple of annoying fuckers like.I’ve finally managed to make a vegan chilli which makes me not miss the meat version, only gets better with age too

Cashews make a good alternativeI do prefer a veg chilli to a meat one these days like. Always whack a dollop of creme fraiche / sour cream and/or some grated cheese on top still mind ya.
The best vegetarian /vegan dishes don't try to recreate meat like. Fake meat is usually extremely underwhelming. They should not be allowed any meat flavour replacement food or any vegan sausages and burgers etc...they made their bed.
