Spot on. You've basically covered my extra added narrativeAye, just blokes talking over each other and seemingly unsure of their decisions
So that renders VAR useless
Absolutely. These are professional referees. Surely there should be a standardised form of unambiguous communication between them. Other professions manage it so why not them? Shockingly amateurish. That’s ridiculous. They allow play to continue while they are checking things like possible penalties.
And on top of that they need to say something different to ‘check complete’ if that’s what meant the goal didn’t stand.
Surely adding ‘allow goal’ or ‘no goal’ after ‘check complete’ would make things a lot clearer.
We can do without VAR, not the officials. They need to improve. The price of VAR is too high for me.No, it renders officials useless.

So choose the poison…. As I say, the price is too high for something that is (naturally) imperfect. CheersMy entire life, people have been saying "the standard of refereeing needs to improve". With VAR the standard has improved, it just isn't a perfect system because at the end of the day there are humans operating it and humans make mistakes.
It's still better than not having it.
As has already been pointed out on this thread, the linesman flagged for offside, so without VAR it still wouldn't have been a goal. People would just have been rightly slagging off the linesman instead of the VAR.

That statement is a disgrace. How the hell can VAR just not intervene?
You can ping one in from 40 yards and they'll check everything yet something like that doesn't get checked.
Unfortunately money and greed played a huge part in them rolling out VAR in the first place. It’s a complete farce. As you say scrap it ASAPAbsolute shit show.
Just have goal line technology in all 4 leagues and scrap this VAR shite once and for all.
Strange post and strange comparison….What price? How much does it cost you personally?
Also, just because something's imperfect, doesn't mean it isn't a worthwhile improvement on what came before.
Cars aren't perfect. You can die from car crashes, kill other people in them, take wrong turns, drive to the wrong town entirely, they can break down.... so, should we get rid of them and go back to horses? Of course not.
I agree… and it isn’t to say that we can’t progress (goal line technology for example). But this is a step too far for me.Managed without it for long enough
Strange post and strange comparison….
My final point to you would be that I think this kind of thing works tremendously well in cricket or rugby and I’m all in favour of it. It isn’t perfect there either, but it works. I’m also all for goal line technology. However, the effect that it has had on the game has been overwhelmingly bad. Look at the level of discussion around it. Look at how it has completely messed up the interpretation of handball for example.
We have very different views on it. Have a good afternoon!
